As far as I can tell, the color. There might be slight differences in their hardening time, too, but you'd have to check the individual box for details.

i believe w/ the squadron white and green, the green is 'smoother', being made from more finely ground stuff (yes, i am getting technical here!) :-)

if they are not applied in thin coats, results are usually not good.
(flakes and chunks come off while sanding)

i have not seen red from squadron, so i will give you my impression of the Model Master red: much smoother than either the white or green. the red has an almost creamy consistency. much easier to work (for me) than either of the other two. my Squadron putty pretty much stays in the tube since i bought the MM red.

i am no expert, but there was not much feedback here, so i thought i would tell you what i think.

Thanks Wildwilliam, opinions are what I'm looking for. I thought maybe different colors were meant to fill different size gaps or have other characteristics that would make one preferable over another, like drying time or hardness. I have not tried the red yet but I will.

When you put putty on a seem on airplane how do u sand it down with out sanding the body line down?

use small tape (cut-out) preventing putty to F_up details, always putty the gaps or seems not the rest!

Didn't know about the orange.

the orange i use is bondo from the autozone (or kragen, or pep boys, or whatever you have)...it works great and you get a giant tube for what you pay for the tiny tube of squadron...also you dont hallucinate from the fumes like squadron

another putty sanding trick is not to sand it!
try a Q-tip w/ nail polish remover after the putty has set up some, but not completely hardened.
