Old Crow proudly ready but what about Gabreski?
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, August 22, 2003 7:27 AM
Dear all thanks to you my Anderson mustang is ready.
But what about P-47 of Gabraski.
I was told that undersurfaces where NMF and by other source medium sea gray. Upper were Dark green and Ocean gray. Plus D-Day stripes of course....
Can anyone confirm/ disagree?
PS A camo layout will be appreciated. Hasegawa instructions seem a little odd to the eye of the ignorant (me...lol).

According to Squadron 56th fighter group, HV-A was painted upper surfaces AAF Medium Green 42 (FS34092) and RAF Medium Sea Gray and lower was Medium Sea Gray. I've always done wheel wells and cowl interior in Chromate Yellow. The cockpit is Euro I Green. The a/c had invasion stripes. Do you have the location and width of them?

Hey thyamis,
Here are the dimensions for the invasion stripes. Sorry but I was checking out some info on the Jug when I saw your thread.

Fuselage: Five, 18-inche stripes
Wings: Five 20-inch stripes

Check out these for references:
P-47 Detail & Scale
P-47 "In Action" series
P-47 "Walk Around"
Flaps up, Mike

I looked at the picture again this weekend. It's hard to tell if the invasion stripes go over the wing or not. The black looks like it ends at the leading edge. The green has a soft edge. The plans for the Monogram bubbletop has a pattern for the camo., but they show a hard edge. It looks close to the picture.
