A-10 FS Paint number?

Hey Bones;
Well after she landed she had to shut down at the End Of Runway, and the Fire Dept went out and secured the aircraft of any on board fires, but they where all out upon landing, then we had the honor to tow the plane to the tarmack by chock walking her to her new home away from the rest of the flyers in a area with a overhang, as for the pilot she was debreifed and flew the next day without any problems,

Hey 72cuda,
Can you say WOW..!!!!!! So how was it to recover this particular bird??
My cousin had sent me this site after he had heared about it from another squadron mate after a debreifing.
For the life of me I cant remember it because I have the link on another PC which I cant get to at the moment.
I guess you could say that the female pilot is one lucky "Hawg"..LOL.

I got some news for you, I actually helped recover that airplane at Al Jaber AB Kuwait on Apr 9 03, when it was damaged, the plane was flown by a active duty Female Pilot, who is the only pilot ever to fly a crippled A-10 home and land it on manual revision system and make in 1 piece without total loss of aircraft, and that airplane had to be torn down and shipped back to the States in pieces, the damage was so great that the ABDR (Aircraft Battle Damage Repair) team couldn't patch her for her flight home for better repairs, also that was the day we lost an A-10 over Bagdad and had another one hit and damaged but flew to Tallil AB Iraq for emergency landing and later repaired and flew back States side,

Hey 72cuda,
I too have some cousins who are flying in the Gulf in support of OIF(F-16s,F-15s)
These particular pix I thought were interesting plus it also shows what the Hawg can take and still return home.
She was over Baghdad when she encountered enemy fire.
Somewheres I also have a print of an A-10 that is over all the compass gray scheme but the interesting thing is that the engine housing is from another A-10 which was still done up in the lizard scheme.
That would be a cool modeling piece. Anywho it would be cool to see some of your pix from the Gulf!!

Hey bones;
For the engines the inlets are gloss Aircraft Grey, and the same just aft of the blades up to the point where the cowling starts to taper towards the tail cone then from that point to the tail cone is flat Black, and the tail cone is LT Ghost Grey, the inside of the cone is jet exhaust with black streaks, if you could wait I'll be home in Oct and I have pix of the engines even the one the was hit by a surface to air missile back in Arpil and E-Mail me at 72cuda@gimail.af.mil so I could send the pix to you

Hey klem,
The over all paint scheme on the Hawg is light compass ghost gray FS 36375. The "masked" scheme is dark compass ghost gray FS 36320.

Howdy fellow modelers,

If you need some info on A-10s and love these things the way I do then check out this link,

You'll find all kinds of pictures and info. If you want to see a different aircraft, just change the a-10 part to the aircraft you are interested in. Wipe out every thing past the .org part and you'll get all kinds of info on current military hardware.

Thanks Cuda (from the other post). :D Either of you guys wouldn't by chance have pics of an engine and cannon would you?

As a matter of fact your in luck, I'm currently working on A-10's in Iraq as we speak, I don't have the FS #'s but I can tell you the paint scheme is Compass Ghost (a modified MASK scheme) the colors are LT & DK Ghost Greys with Gunship Grey for the dark marking under the nose, the best paint that comes close is Testors Model Master paints and they have the correct FS #'s & names for the colors, and if you are going to do the new scheme remember the planes have been modified with GPS, LASTE, GUI, and LITENING II, all are new antennas Except for the LITENING that is a pod that go on the r/h pylon outboard of the r/h landing gear sponsion,
