Primer question?
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, August 31, 2003 11:08 AM
All,

I realize this query should probably be posted on the techniques forum, but anyhow......

Can anyone tell me about GS Mr. Surfacer primer 1000, the airbrush version....... I've yet to garner from internet vendors whether this primer is acrylic, enamel or lacquer-based????

I've been using Alclad lacquer primer and micro-filler and like the results, but thought I'd try the GS product if anyone had anything good to say about the product. Besides, the site from which I'm planning to order doesn't carry the Alclad primer. I'm looking for something that I can sand and polish..... In other words, something that won't peel off with light sanding, like an acrylic primer would......

Any help would be appreciated.......

Thanks,

Hey Cav,

I haven't used any of the Mr.Surfacer as a primer, just as a filler. So I can't tell 'ya how it runs through a brush, but I can tell you that it is lacquer-based. OH BOY, is it lacquer-based! Tongue [:P]

This stuff could leave you loopy if you're not careful...
