Air Compressors

I highly reccomend Testors line of compressors. I purchased mine for around 200$ about 2 years ago and have throughly enjoyed it. Its fairly quiet, has water trap and regulator. It isn't auto shut off but that hasn't presented any problems.

I was able to get a 90 PSI compressor for $89.00 from Walmart. It included a 2 liter storage tank, auto-shut-off, hose and various nozzels for inflating tires and sport balls. I bought a water trap by the same manufacturer for $11.00. It's relatively quite and perfect for airbrushing. The brand is Cambell Hausfeld and it is also sold in Home Depot under the name 'Hunter'

Thanks to all who did or will submit their ideas on compressors. Ashleys idea about CO2 reminded me of my poor mans CO2 set up i had about 30 yrs ago. I bought a used tire mounted on a wheel and used that for an air supply . Worked great.Just had to run it down to the gas station now & then to put about 60 lbs A.P. in it. Like Wildwilliam suggested i'm going to put this question on the airbrush forum and ask about the Iwata Smart Jet unit.

In that price range, you can get set up with a compressed CO2 cylinder. Since I did that, no more problems with noise or condensation. You can airbrush forever on a 20lb cylinder. You will need a special regulator, as all compressed gas cylinders use different threads, but after the initial expense, refills are quite reasonable.

i use a Badger 180-11.
it has auto shut off, is pretty quiet (i run it in my apt), but the water trap and regulator were separate, i think.
cost around $150 to 180 3 or 4 years back, if i recall.

I don't know if you can find SimAir products where you are... I have their 5000 model and it's simply great. I got it on sale for half the price, if not I would have never been able to afford it! But their lower budget compressors have an equally good reputation.
