Trumpeter 1:32 corsairs

It would be pretty cool if that were the case. I've been looking for a good large-scale Corsair, and the Revell kit is well beyond it's years. It's about time somebody came out with a new one. Of course, ther e would have to be an aftermarket cockpit, given Trumpeter's history.

Just found out that the 1/32 Corsair is due to be released on Oct 1. Retails for $62.99, and they are releasing 2 versions: F4U-1D and F4U-4. Sounds like it might be a very nice kit, indeed! For details:

It's kinda funny that Monogram blew everyone away with their 1/48 scale kit in the late 70's to the early 90's and now we got Trumpeter that's starting to do it for 1/32 scale, I've got to get their F-105 and now they got a F4-U coming out this could get ugly for 1/48 scaler, it's like history is repeating itself, 1/48 did it to 1/72 scale

Why are they mixing 1:24 and 1:32? Seems like you want to satick with one scale. Is that not logical? I am excited about the corsair releases considering how patheitc the Revell 1:32 truly is.

Again, the detail could be fabulous in 1:32 but the problem is, shelf space. I have 22 on 2 shelves now and they are all 1:48, 1:72. I would love to start the 1:32 but storage will be an issue. On the other side, again, my eyesight is getting such that I need something bigger. That is why I have stayed away from 1:72.

At $63, it had better not need anything but paint and glue.

According to reviews, wit th350+ pcs, it has PE slats, solid metal rods, and everything you would need to make it show-worthy. I haven't seen any pics of it yet, but I'm waiting patiently. I just hope that they improve their cockpit track record.

All this talk on them just shows the actual demand for it. don't you think if it a great kit you might buy one? I deffinatly will, and a resin cockpit that someone will have for it also. They have just made all corsair fans extatic with anticipation.

Wayne Baker, $63 isn't a lot for a 1/32 kit.

I know. I've seen the prices in FSM and the cataloges. My point is, I have a Revell Corsair still in the wrap, I paid about $15. I bought a Verlinden cockpit for it, for about $20. If I have to put that Verlinden cockpit in the Trumpeter kit to get the same look in that area, I'm going to feel ripped. With today's standards, and cheaper labor costs in China, I would hope the Trumpeter wouldn't need any aftermarket parts to make it a show stopper.

As I posted at the end of September, at least the F4U-1D was on the shelves here in Japan, going for about $43 US. The F4U-4 supposedly was released at the same time, but my local hobby shop didn't have one, which is too bad since that's the one I'm waiting for!
Since the ancient Revell Corsair repackaged is selling here for about $30 US, I have no qualms whatsoever about spending the extra 13 bux to get some 21st century technology in a kit, even if the cockpit may be lacking (although I've heard no reports to that effect). I love the ol' Revell Corsair, to be sure, but it's nice to see a couple of new entries, eh?

A trip over to the Trumpeter website revealed that the F4U-4 is actually scheduled to be released here in Japan in mid-October.

From what I've read, the cockpit has a small problem - a molded in floor. Part of the 'animal magnetism' of the Corsair was it's utilitarian design. Maybe the resin guys will spin out a few cockpit sets to correct this.

Otherwise, all the reviews give it good ratings on accuracy, for both overall shape and dimension and for detail. I'm ready go get my hands on one.
