Hey, demon.

I'm wanting to stay in 1/48 scale. That's my favorite scale for fighters, only, I'm afraid the A-10 and C130's might get a little large. Still, I think this would make an outstanding display and I plan to start on it as soon as I finish the 3 models I'm working on, a Hasegawa F-4J Phantom II, an Academy SR-71 Blackbird, and an Italeri F-22 Raptor. I'll certainly post pictures when it's complete! Smile [:)]

Cuda,
I know exactly where you are coming from. Having spent two summers of my life poking holes in the "Litter Box," I came home to no recognition, no fanfare, nothing. Most people didn't even know that we've been dropping bombs over there for the past 10 years. We've been shot at, harrassed, hounded, and for what? I've sweated it out with my shipmates during GQ, loaded the bombs, armed systems, and done all of the drills. My heart goes out to you and all those still over there, because I know intimately what you're going through. I would also like to model some of the weapons systemsove rthere right now, but can't until the vendors catch up to the schemes. Such is the lot for modelling history.

Hey Jroden & Demono:
here is some thing that maybe a piece of info, most units that did particapate in OEF (Operation Enduring Freedom) where deployed for OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom) and even more, like the 2 major units that where Bagram where the 101st Airbourne, & 82nd Airbourne for the Army and for the AF (A-10's) was the 23 FW 74 & 75 FS out of Pope AFB, 926 FW 706 FS & 303 FS (from the 442 FW from Whiteman AFB) out of New Orleans NAS, and the 355 FW from Davis-Mothan, just before the build up for OIF, and I can't remember whose units where deployed to the regein around Afghanistan, but I was there in Bagram for OEF as well here in Iraq for OIF, but thanks for thinking of OEF because that operation is going on as we speak too and those units need to be recoginised too for their jobs well done while we are taking the lime light from them, and I wish that the Model companies would update their kits to show the changed paint schemes of the aircraft now, like the A-10's & C-130's are now Grey not Euro I anymore even the armour is in the Euro not Desert Tan, and the units are all not the Flying Tigers or the Razorbacks, if you get what I mean, yes the FT's where there but they are not the only A-10 unit in the AF, and not all M-1's are Tan either even though they made a big impression being that color, thats what I'm trying to get across, yes their where F-14's, 15's, 16's, & 18's that played major roles too as with AV-8's, B-1's, 2's, 52's, and AH-1's, 64's but we all know their schemes, and units that flew them in and over Afghanistan to hit the Taliwackers (Taliban) & Stinky's (Al Qeida) strong holds & hide outs, to put this in short we got to remember that we where attacked and now we are on the offensive and we have brave men & women fighting on 2 fronts, 1 being in Afghanistan & the other in Iraq, we got to give all of them their credit due
thanks
have fun & relax
Cuda

I've thought about it, myself. I would love to see it when it's finished. What scale are you planning? I figured that by the time I get around to it, most of the key players should be out in 1/32 scale, aside from the heavy bombers, that is. I could dedicate a room to it, I guess...

Aircraft of Operation Enduring Freedom

I was just wondering if anyone has begun to build the aircraft used in Operation Enduring Freedom. There are at least a dozen different aircraft in all. I think it would make for a pretty awesome display, worthy of being displayed in a case of its own. I know that some of the decal manufacturers have already come out with decals for aircraft used in Iraq. If anyone has started this project and run into any snafus, whether it be the decals aren't available, or the aircraft itself isn't available, let me know. I think I might start this project soon.
