aim- 120 1/144 scale dimensions
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, September 8, 2003 12:02 PM
i am planning to build the legendary dale brown EB-52. from his books starring Patrick Mclanahan. and was the main plaine in the"Flight of the Old Dog"

i am using the air power set that is 144 scale and has the b-52h, b-1b, and the b-2 all of these will eventually be made in to planes from the dale brown books.

the EB-52 has alot of Aim-120 air to air missles, and rather than scrounging the missles from 144 scale models (f15 kits)i decided to build them from scratch using left over parts trees and clear plastic for the fins. all i need are the lengths of the missles and the size of the fins

any help would be appreciated

Remember:

Anything in 1:144 scale is exactly ½ the size of the same thing in 1:72 scale. It should be easy to scale any part down, providing you have the part (or the dimensions) in 1:72 scale.

Hope this helps.

If nothing else helps, you can always indirectly scale from your photos. All you need is one known dimension on the aircraft and go from there.

I have an AIM120 off a Testor F22 1/72 scale. The best measurement I can get is 49 mm long ,2mm diameter,7mm fin to fin front ,8mm fin to fin rear. Hope this helps alittle. Bob
