I built the Testors kit a couple of years ago. it's pretty simple and is quite a size when finished. If I remember rightly it has no jet pipe, some plastic tube does the job though. you also get a pilot figure & a transport trolley.

Back in the mid 80s, Monogram had a WU-2D variant in 1/72.

If you're at all into the e-bay thing, you might find one there, but I haven't seen it reissued at all.

The Airfix kit is a nice one, nothing fancy (raised panel lines, not much detail) but goes together ok and looks the part, and can be built as a U-2A or D. Superscale did some nice decals for it too. If you want a U-2C, try and find the MPC version

When it comes to U-2s in 1/48 scale, Testor (originally Hawk) makes the smaller early model, and Italeri (connected with Testor) makes the stretched U-2R (TR-1). You can get resin accessories to make this kit even better from Meteor Productions (www.meteorprod.com), and decals, too.

In 1/72, early versions have been produced by Airfix (also packaged back in the 1980s by MPC) and Academy. The stretched "Dragonlady" versions have been made by Special Hobby (Czech) and High Planes (Australia).

Hey Dmodeler, I have the Testors 1/48 and it seems ok. I haven't worked on it yet and I never check dimensions, just go for it if it looks right. Good luck.

I'm in the market for a U2 Spy plane (version not as important) either in 1/72 or 1/48. I have found a couple out there but I am curious as to anyone's experience with specific kits and any recommendations.

Thanks
