HE-111H-6 Interior Color
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, September 15, 2003 12:07 AM
I just picked up a vintage Testors / Italeri 72nd scale H-6, and it is my first WW II Luftwaffe bird. The instructions do not include RLM shade references. I have already figured out what I need for the exterior camo, but I do not know what is needed for the office. My comfort zone is Federal Standard, not RLM. Help!

Try watching the movie 'The battle of Britain'. There are plenty of interiour shots of He111's. Excellent movie too. At the time of shooting the amount of aircraft they had assembled made it the 11th largest airforce in the world..

The colour is supposed to be RLM 02 grey.

THE OFFICIAL MONOGRAM PAINTING GUIDE TO GERMAN AIRCRAFT 1935-1945 by Merrick & Hitchcock states the following:

"The reissue of L.Dv.521 in November 1941 stipulated that all cockpit areas or crew areas visible through a glazed covering were to be painted Black-Gray 66, principally as an antiglare measure. The remainder of the interior, including weapons bays and undercarriage housings, were to be finished in Green-Gray 02.

I hope that this is of some help.

I remembered when I did my Monogram HE-111 and I thought it was RLM 02 and read the instructions(I thought it was a typo for RLM 66) and then seen the movie Battle Of Britian and then I had to change the colors of the interior to RLM 66
