P-47 Thunderbolt
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, September 18, 2003 10:50 PM
I really want to make my Tamiya P-47 as a plane from the 5ERS -used as Air Sea Rescue. Just for 'something different'.
However references are few and far between. Anyone have any ideas where I can find more details or references that I might use please?
Thanks

Check the Warren Bodie book on the P-47 for more photos. Roger Freeman's books on the Mighty Eighth have several as well, along with information about the unit. MicroScale had a discontinued 1/72 sheet that had the markings for an a/c from the 5th ERS. If you're interested, I can scan and email the markings for you, if you can find someone to make a 1/48 set of decals for you. I've only seen one model of a plane from this unit. Yours should be quite interesting. Hope you'll keep us informed about the build.
