Wood props at last
Posted by lpolpo22 on Tuesday, September 23, 2003 9:43 AM
I have just returned from a cruise to Nova Scotia and was pleased to find my order of wooden props from Copper State waiting for me. I could not be more pleased. I ordered props for the Pegasus Rumpler C.IV, Revell Sopwith Schneider "N", and Eduard Fokker E.V Sea Eagle, all in 1/72 scale. I expected a peace of roughly cut balsa that I would have to shape and sand and finish. What I received was a master peace of carving, beautifully finished and polished. AT $6.00 apiece I consider it money well spent. I spoke, via email, to Mr. Eric R. Hight of Copper State Models who informed me that they are distributor for Mr. Martin Digmayer of the Czech Republic. Mr. Digmayer hand carves all props out of whichever wood type was used in the original aircraft (Really). He makes these props on request through Copper State Models and delivery time is about 3 weeks. If you want to really put the finishing touches on that WWI master peace you have to check this out. Also inquire about the set of brass bosses as a finishing touch.
My thanks to "Woody" for pointing me to this site.

I hope you enjoyed Nova Scotia. That's where I was born and raised, before moving to northern Alberta.

I was born in New Jersey, I always figured Nova Scotia to be the same.

Nova Scotia ... one of my favourite parts of the world when I am not home in Alberta.

Hey Dogsbody, are you anywhere near Edmonton?
Some of us are planning to get together near the end of October.
Regards,
Bruce

To B. LeCren, I'm up in Fort McMurray. I was in Edmonton yesterday, doing some hobby shopping. I just got home an hour ago.

Hi Woody, sorry to be so long in replying but I've been trying to lay my hands on a Quality digital camera. I do have a 35mm Nikon SLR but the definition really drops off when I transfer the images to disc, however I may try it anyway. Also I have yet to begin any of the models but I may purchase a replacement prop for one of my existing models thereby getting before and after shots. After that is done I'll see if I can't entice someone to scan it in for me. Like I said before - this may take time.
