Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator - WWII Europe

I have the game, but it won't run on my coumpter. I have combat flight sim 1&2. I downloaded a B-2 and a B-36 for CFS2.

I have CFS 1 & 2 and I've played 2 a lot longer because I prefer the Pacific theater aircraft. I started at 100% realism from the begining and figure I'd just get better gradualy. I wasn't too hot on getting kills right away (Ok I was, but only for the first week did I use 'invicibiltiy' and 'unlimited ammo' ). I fly mostly the Zero and have learned how to use my manueverability to my advantage but it's really tough to shoot down those Hellcat's and Corsairs with the zero's armament. And it sure can't take much of a punch. My next favorite is the N1K2-J 'George'. That can go toe to toe with any allied aircraft.

I have all three MCFS games. My computer will only run 1 and 2, though. (time for a new computer. )

I prefer MCFS 1, Europe (don't know how MCFS III is yet) over the Pacific.

I always fly at 100% realism, Ace level with regular fuel and ammo loads. Got real good at it over the years, (great way to blow off some steam ) and have tons of medals. I even got the Victoria Cross once flying the Battle Of Britian campaign. Yeah, I've gotten smoked my share of times, but I give it out well too. Those belly landings with your bird all shot up after you've scored about 8 kills is a tense moment, isn't it ?

Here's a game I tried. Pick a favorite campaign, and see how many of the 18 missions you can get through without being "killed". It's OK to bail out and replay the mission, but if you're in the plane when it crashes, or when it explodes, that's it. The farthest I got was 9 missions. An ME-109 came up behind me, and the last thing I heard was her cannons firing.

You will see your kill numbers go down because believe it or not you become tentative. It's a different game when you're going for survival rather than "kills". It also kicks up the tension level a bit. Try it out, if you get bored with the regular game.

I'vge been playing this game for quite some time!! Played with the USAAf and got promoted to colonel.. but still short of two medals I think.. so great job there ozz1998!!! Yup.. I too play with 100% realism inclusive of the torturous sun glare effects!! Hahahaa!! Love the game.. My comp allows CFS 3 to be played but I dont have dough to buy the second version as yet(Army allowance dont allow airforce games!!))hahaha!! ... neither do i have the time!!


And yes!!! I've finished all the missions with atleast a min requirement met!!

Is this Micropose's European Air War ya'll are talking about here? I was given it (along with this computer) last July, and only got it to run for about 5 minutes at a time.
Thus, there's not much I can say about it...
Is it very demanding of your computer?

there was a Patch out for it, so it could run without the cd in the drive, Freeing up alot of power
i cant remember where i saw it but i will post the link when i find it, i dont know if the other patches are out yet to get rid of some of the bugs
i prefer IS2 the forgottern battles, it runs better and has less bugs than the microsoft sim

I still use CFS1 and have loads of fun with it. i run it at medium and realism at 100%. i have loads of a/c on it (about 100) that i have downloaded from all eras and the cape gris nez mission is real easy with the B52 - i know its cheating- i am looking for an A10 to download but havn't found a really good one yet. hey mods how about having a flight sim thread? . greg

I play that mission using an me262 that carries 24 rockets!! Fun man!! Go around whacking them with their own aircraft!! haha! Even the one with rail targets near caen I use a MiG 21 with rocket assisted take off and 7000 rounds of cannon ammo+ rockets etc!! haha!! Just seeing how easy WW2 would've been with modern weapons on one side!! But for campaigns I use 100% reality!

In the British campaign where I got the Victoria Cross, I made the rank of Wing Commander.

In the USAAF, I did make Colonel, but did not get the Medal Of Honor or the Silver Star.

In the German Battle Over Europe campaign, I got every medal except the Knights Cross With Oak Leaves, Swords, and Diamonds. The highest rank I got as the Germans was Oberstleutnant.

These were all 100% realism, Ace level, standard fuel and ammo loads. (Yes, that sun glare is a pain, but it saved my butt more than once. ) In each of these campaigns, I had over 100 kills, but still didn't get every medal. I'm under the impression that getting every medal without at least going with unlimited ammo is not possible. If someone has gotten every promotion and every medal using the 100% realism at the Ace level, AND standard fuel and ammo loads, I'd sure like to hear from ya.

Isn't it "great" that if there are say, 8 enemy planes coming at your squadron, ALL of them are concentrating on YOU ?

Hi Nandman83, you should try it in the Harrier!!! just hover and let rip with the rockets LMAO. its what could be described as having an unfair advantage hehehe.....Greg BTW try the simviation saab drakken....true jet performance at last, i took off from meigs and pulled into a gentle half loop with a roll off the top at 37000ft...AWESOME and no stall warning whilst doing it plus you can get the asi off the scale without the overspeed warning going crazy. Anyone ever used timed rockets against fighters in the "Battle for Europe" campaign???........... I feel a little guity about firing timed rockets into a squadron of enemy fighters!!! Yeah, right!!!! If you catch them head-on, with sufficient distance and appropriate airspeed at altitude, you can blast the entire enemy squadron with a couple of rockets.......

One more thing, when you oppose Allied bombers in the German campaign and your bird is eqipped with rockets, how come your squadron-mates don't deploy their rockets into clusters of bombers???? Just wondering..........

Been there and done that and even enjoyed myself thouroughly!!!!! The first mission for the USAAF campaign gets over in a Jiffy thanks to this contraption.. wait till you see their sillouette and blast three rockets to kill 6 birds!!hahaha!!! fun!! man.... and I was feelin guilty about admitting such things thinking I'd be the onloy spoilsport here..!! I just found out that air-to-ground missions are much more fun with thermonuclear weapons. I have a B-52 for CFS2 that had nukes in its invintory. I'm not sure where I downloaded it

I'm suprised no one here is playing IL-2 Sturmikov, not only is it a fantasticly real flight model, it also allows you to design your own paint scheme for any aircraft you wish to fly, or download others creations. You can even add your own face to the pilot.
Its best feature....Massive multiplayer campains and dogfights online, and you can use the plane/pilot you designed and its downloaded to everyone else so the can see them also.

I fly a BF109G that I've painted up to look as if the metal is peeling back to reveal a snake under.
Not only is it a Flightsims dream...it allows you to put some of your model painting techics to the test in Paintshop.
