Italeri always had a reputation of bad cockpit.

I have the 1/72 F-18E and the cockpit's bad. I have no idea about 1/48.

If it is any thing like their F/A-18C cockpit, it is bad. I spent more time rebuilding the cockpit than I did on actual construction of the rest of the kit. The only reason I even messed with it was because it was a gift from one of the Grandmunsters. I wouldn't have bought the kit on my own.

Bought the F/A 18F (two seater) two weeks ago. Opened the box yesterday evening, just to have a look Blush [:I]. As usual Italeri’s cockpit is bad.Angry [:(!] Another problem I found when trying to fit the upper part of the fuselage with the wings, is that there’s a misalignment of the right wing. An important amount of work will be necessary there to correct the problem. Good details though in the main landing gear bays. Paul

if you're into 1/72, don't bother to build it because hasegawa is releasing a F-18F (and probably an F-18E soon after) in late November/December. Hasegawa's worst still blows away any Italeri.

I seem to buy a lot of hasegawa kits but I'd like to see more modern aircraft from Tamiya. Their 1/72 scale WWII planes are so good it's sick. And they don't skimp on the cockpits at all.

I have to agree, it's bad. The a/m cockpit I need is worth more than the kit!! I'll cut my loses and scratch mine from spares.

Another thing, on the Italeri 1/48 F/A-18F there is a speedbrake and speedbrake well and that is not used on the actual aircraft. The F/A-18F usues little "air scoops" just aft of the intakes on top of the jet. Im a member of VFA-2 and we fly F/A-18F's. So you'll have to find a way to hide the speedbrake and well.

Hey Rossjr
When was that photo of NNSB taken? I lived near there for 18 years and never saw that Enterprise in the drydock. LOL
