Merv,
Revell/Monogram did have a 1/48th A-6E Intruder; I built it up about six months ago. However, I don't know if its still in production. Its good kit, up to Revell/Monogram's standards, and makes a good companion to their EA-6B Prowler. I used some Microscale aftermarket decals on it - CVW-14 off the USS Independence, Operation Desert Shield, December 1990. VLS did make up some ejection seats which could be used in either the Intruder or Prowler; I used some in the Prowler. Hope this helps.

I heard a rumor that the A-6 along with the 1/48th B-29 will be reissued some time this year. Start saving. I have an old A-6 model kit that hasn't been finished yet because some parts broke and got lost.

Look for the B-29 sometime around September, I haven't heard anything about the A-6 returning. I hope it does, that is a great looking kit.

I have one sitting in my closet waiting to be built. I don't know if they still produce it as I bought mine around 10 years ago. Will look for you.

Spike,

Revell's A-6E can be had on E-Bay right now. Watch what you pay for it because it will be re-released again. Aftermarket stuff includes a slew of decals, but Black Box makes a resin pit for this kit. That part is highly recommended. Also, Paragon made a wing fold for the composite wing Intruder. Cutting Edge also has a Prowler wing fold set that can be easily reconfigured for an Intruder if you feel ambitous.

Regards,

Randy

FYI: There was also an ancient A-6 by Fujimi in 1:48 scale. It had excellent lines, but no interior detail and no landing gear bay detail. This one would be suitable for building a replica of a 'Nam-era Intruder.
