Anyone know of a good source for Helicopter kits in 1/48 scale?
I realize there are many in 1/72, but I have an old "Ringo Toys" kit in 48 and wish to add to this scale with others. Beginning a collection of helo's used for rescue missions, North America for now.

Was it Fujimi who had a fairly large number of 1/48 'hovering' subjects??? Heller had some too (well, 1/50 to be correct)...

Excellent.
Where are these kits to be found?
So far I have the Ringo kit a Trumpeter kit and some leads on some very expensive Tamiya kits.
I can't afford a second morgage so let's be nice.

Honestly, I don't know... Are you in the US? If so, try Squadron Mail Order, as they seem to carry almost everything. Haven't seen a Fujimi catalogue for years, and I'm not sure what is currently being offered, but in the past those choppers came and went with the years. Heller's are I think more difficult to find, possibbly because of their fairly unpopular scale (Europe is still very much 1/72). E-Bay might be a good source. E-Bay France also if you are happy to do e-payments... Other than that, there are a numbe of other companies producing or having produced 1/48 copters, including Monogram (Mi-24), Trumpeter (HH-65),... Those should be easier to find.

The Trumpeter HH65 is a disappointment, being actually a reboxed 365N.
With some work it can be built into a decent looking Dolphin. I am working on that kit now. The Ringo kit is an HH52A Seaguard. Hopefully these two kits will be a then and now look at USCG helo's
Thanks for the help, I'll see what I can find!

Revell-Germany and Italeri share many 1/72 Helo kits. Check out both web sites. If you don't like the markings one is offering, check the other, plus each manufacturer tends to put a few extra parts for their version of the kits.
