Are these kits out there?

Hi Roadkill. that C54. you could try converting the Heller DC6. i read an article in a mag on how to do this but it was ages ago and i can't remember which one it was but at least it is possable. as for the C-9 and KC-10 you could try and get hold of old travel agency models of the DC9 and DC 10 (most work out at 1/72) and convert them. as for the Nomrod, the only one that comes to mind is the old Contrail kit in 1/72 but it is a vac-form. there was a 1/144 kit of the C5 galaxy by(i think) Revell. sorry i cant be of more help and good luck with this awesome project. Might try ebay about once a week. If there out there, they will eventually show up there. Just type in 1/72 in the search engine and see what pops up.

Thanks guys for the input. I found an old Aurora TT-1 Pinto thats about 1/48 but I really need it in1/72, and besides the guy wanted 250$ for it because "it's an old kit and the company is no longer in business" I'm going to try another vacuu-form and hope they have improved since my last one back in 1985. I still have nightmares about that one!

If you find a model of a T-1, let me know. I can't finish my collection of 'planes I've flown' until I find one. It's the (basically) same as a Mitsubushi 300 and a Beech 400. But nobody makes kits of that. At least not when I looked last year.

TT-1 is available in 1/72 in vacuform. Aviation Usk carries a lot of unusual stuff in vacuform & resin.

Revell has had a PT-17 out since the late 60s, early 70s and one of the Eastern European companies has just released a kit of it also. I have a kit of the AT-11 which was made by PM Models in 1/72. And somewhere I read that that the C-54 would possibly be released sometime in the near future but I don't remember who the manufacturer was (There was a vacu-form model around about 25 years ago but I don't believe its available anymore). If you don't mind modifying, see if you can find a Heller DC-6 (Late model DC-4/C-54 were just like the early DC-6, just different model Pratt engines). I think Heller also offered the DC-6 as the C-118. The only TT-1 I can remember was an old Strombecker injected kit produced in the late 50s. It was aprox 1/48 scale I think but is a real collectors item today, so be ready to pay through the nose for it. The C-124, C-131, B-18 and B-23 have been produced in Vacu-form but I haven't seen one in years. Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. I've been keeping a list of what I've seen and it numbers well over 400 a/c. My biggest problem gathering kits is I live in a town that has no hobby shops except for Wal Mart and Hobby Lobby. I have no credit cards or a checking account, don't trust them. I make the occasional trip to the DFW area and that is when I do the majority of my buying. I live in Abilene, Tx and find it really hard to beleive that there is NO hobby shops here! If it wasn't for the Bone I would move!!!

I think you will have a whole lot better chance if you don't exclude yourself from vacs. That is the reason they are produced, to fill in the gaps in the industry. I had to face the same challenge, because I build experimental fighters. Try another vac and tap into the experience on this site. Go look at some of Swannys posts his vacs are beautiful and he and several others that build vacs on this forum would be more than willing to help with tips.
