Forthcoming releases from Panda Model
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, February 13, 2003 9:21 PM

Hi guys,

I'm Phil and am pretty new on this forum. Just wanted to share my excitement after learning from Hannants that Panda Model (the same guys that released the 1/48th F-35 JSF, 1/144th B-1B) will be releasing quite a few rare subjects in 1/72 to include:
1. C-17 Globemaster
2. Tu-22 Blinder
3. Tu-160 Blackjack
4. Predator UAV
5. F-45 UCAV

I'm mostly into 1/72 modern jets and would be glad to share more.

I believe its the Co-Pilot or the Pilot from Easy Money that live in the Seattle area where I am.

I recieved alot of help and made a friend from a local Army helo base when I was buiding a 1/32 scale Revell Huey UH1-D about ten years ago.....so when I was painting and putting on the decals I decided to make it one of his Favorits from 1968 called 'Little Angle' from the 173rd AHC Robinhoods.

see HUEY pic its' in the MORE MODELS section:

The Chinook will be cool. I saw their Hueys in a hobby shop today. Nice. Anyone know if they're gonna do an ah-60 "Little Bird"?

I have seen the Panda 1/32 scale Hueys and ....well.....they.....kinda STINK! The details were soft and the rivits were OVERSIZED......The MRC heelo kits are MUCH better....The Panda birds so far are like a 'step up' from the 1/32 scale older REVELL helicopter kits.

BUT! when it comes to a 1/35 Chinook....WHO CARES!

PE-64,
I agree with you on the Panda Hueys. Disappointing overall. Not much better than the Revell Huey and in some ways not as good. You can't beat the Revell Huey and Huey Cobra for accurate details on the a/c exterior. Nothing like pin holes in the windshield to glue the wipers too huh? Panda needs to start from scratch like MRC/Academy rather than scale up existing kits (Italeri 1/48th UH-1D Cav). All that said, it's nice to see more of a selection in this scale. I'm looking forward to seeing the new Black Hawk from MRC. They call it an AH-60 but it's actually an MH-60L from the Night Slalkers ... 160th SOAR(A). I wonder how many more kits they'll be able to generate from the basic kit. Maybe someone will create of the Navy's Sea Hawks.

Revell of Germany has some cool 1/32 scale Heelo kits as well and some new ones comming this year!

The more I look at the older Revell Nam series heelo's the more I see alot of research went into them......not bad!

Has anyone ever seen the complete resin cockpit COBRA COMPANY has for the older Revell AH-1A Cobra?......its awesome! it also includes the foward gun/granade turret.

The Cobra Company cockpit for the Cobra is fantastic! I'm on Cobra #3 of 4 right now and all 4 will have complete CC interiors.
Now we just need Panda to do a series of Army Cobras in 1/35 THAT would be cool. And no scale-ups either. NEW KITS!!

PE-64,
The Slick looks great! From the monkey straps to the pilot door interiors, you've shown what a Revell Huey can look like. Thanks for the photo link. By the way, Jon's done a great job on his Snakes. I'm sure he'll send you some photos.

I just bought two more (for a total of three) of the Academy Blackhawks. I'm doing a huge diraoma of the Mogadishu thing, including both crashed choppers. the CSAR bird, and the lost convoy. How much will I have to adjust the academy kit to make it into the choppers they were using.?? Does anyone know anyone who makes a 1/35 scale "Little Bird" chopper? Does anyone know the types of markings they (Super 6-1 and Super 6-2) had on their birds, or were they just all black? Did they have the numbers on them?

Hi gang! Here is a link to "Guns ago go" web site! Frank White and Jim Ketchham were part of the Nam crew ....door gunner and tech I believe.......I met hooked up with these guys while doing research for my Aurora Chinook. This is an very cool site that covers everything you want to know about GUNS A GO GO! AND! There is a Chinook Model page for ex- Army guys who build! When they have reunions some bring thier kits to show off....thats pretty cool!...here is the letter I just recieved with the link.

Hi Troy: (thats me)
Thanks for the info and model pics. Nice models!

Frank White is the professional modeler with model photos
and links to a modeler pager. I have "Cc:" a copy to him.

Here is his web site:
http://electron.atomic.net/~whitef//

Be sure to let me know when you see one of those 1/35th hooks.

Now....If they still do it .....use your speakers....the front page has a nice pic of a Chinook along with rotor sounds....its kinda cool!

Cmdcntr, don't you want Super 6-1 and 6-4? I just watched the movie again for the umpteenth time last night. I'm a bit of a BHD junkie!

Later guys!
