Atlantic avenger

What's the difference between the Atlantic and Pacific Markings? The T.O. I have (dated November 1943) gives the locations and types of markings (Stars and Bars) by aircraft type (single engine, combat - patrol bombers, land based - patrol bombers, sea plane - trainers etc) so those were pretty much the same for all aircraft (by type). The location and colors of additional markings (squadron or base aircraft numbers etc) appear to have been determined by the squadron commander or higher (up to theater commander ??) - The major differences in the T.O. are the blue/white scheme and the grey/white scheme (the latter was supposed to be used on combat aircraft operating over the sea in extreme northern latitudes all though it seems to be pretty well restricted to the Atlantic and aroung Gibralter)

you raise a very good point. I am naive as to the numbering scheme and units or what-ever they were called, that's all. I understand the stars and bars whould not be different. So, I thought lets say the Hornet might have certain markings that an escort carrier in the Atlantic would not. Sounds simple to me, I will just build it as such and paint it grey and white. Thanks.

I have the decals you are asking about, but I haven't built the kit yet. I can't let go of the decal sheet . Remember, all the markings are in black. The in action book shows several squadrons painted the prop white on the front, from the prop hub to the inside edge of the cowling. There were 14 cve's operating in the Atlantic late in the war.
