Early '90s AMT/Ertl 1/72 kits: F-111A, F-16A

Since getting back into modelling, I found an F-111A, partially built and sitting since my 11th birtday over 10 years ago. Has anyone built this one or any other AMT/Ertl kit from that time and how was it?
I thought it was an okay kit, except that it needed holes cut into the fuselage to fit some antennae and ECMs, the nose cone halves were a little ill-fitting, some panels were a little hard to fit, and the plastic was a bit hard for puttying and sanding. It seemed to turn out well and is awaiting test mule status for airbrushing camo.
I found a Desert Storm commemorative F-16A while helping my aunt move, and just started building it. I think it may be better than the F-111 qualtiy wise, but so far it had an annoying need to paint the inside of the intake before gluing and sanding.

Does anyone have any input or experience on these kits? Thanks for your time.

They're the old ECSI kits. Ertl owns both companies, so they are just repackaged.
Some of the kits aren't that bad for their day. Their Desert Storm F-18, and F-15
have the decals for aircraft with confirmed kills. But be warned, AMT decals
SUCK!!!!!!!!! Make sure you use a heavy gloss coat before appling, and plenty of Micro-Set, and when the decals are finally settling down, brush on a light coat of Micro-Sol.

I'd definitely have to agree with that comment on AMT decals, get aftermarket if you can.

I built an early 1990's AMT EF-111 Raven. I don't know if its molds are at all related to your F-111. I found it not too dfficult a build, I've always found AMT plastic to be a bit soft and pliable for my tastes though, it really likes to melt in the liquid cement a bit more than it should.

That was actually the last AMT kit I built so I don't know if they've changed anything at all since then.
