I actually considered building a 1/15 262 a few years ago. I have a quarter scale P-40 that's R/C and a few others but can not find the time to actually fly them anymore. They just collect dust out in the garage. To get the 262 fully decked out with a gyro in the tail (neccessary equip), radio, engines and retracts would have run right around three grand. Came very close then went and bought my Porsche.

Where it belongs, in the sky! That's the neat thing about RC builders, it can be a GREAT looking model AND do what the real deal did. (Talented scale RC builders, that is, and Deak is a talented guy.)

I'd love to get my hands on one of the MPM 1/15 Me 262 kits, just for the hellavit. That would be a project. Saw one at the NATS (IPMS, not AMA) back in '97 and shoulda picked it up. Just didn't have a few extra hundred in the pocket. Sad [:(]

I can't wait for the first 1/16 heavy, myself.

Laerton has been promising a B-36 but it's yet to materialize...

Maybe PANDA should be lobbied to produce a 1/32 B-24 to go with their 1/32
B-17. A B-29 couldn't be far behind.

I am the eternal optimist. I also have a great sense of humor but when you start talkin' about new kit releases that I dream about it's all business!

Tamiya is not the only manufacture out there releasing new kits, I.e. Trumpeter, Panda, Hasegawa, ect! I really don't believe it will be long before another 1:48 Libby makes its way to the shelves! Or maybe I'm an optimistic!! - Calvin Clown [:o)]

Guys, I know I haven't been around on this forum regularly for awhile so I'll have to introduce the relative newbs and re-introduce some of the rest of you to the twisted BlackWolf sense of humor.

Usually when I say "wait for the _______ (insert favorite model co.) kit," with any combination of "Wink [;)]" , "Tongue [:P]" or "Eight Ball [8]" after it, it's a humorous remark. (otherwise known as a joke) Actually it's an inside joke between the members of the Saturday Night Mafia, but it gets folks going online. I love messing with people... Tongue [:P]

Anyhoo, it's not meant to start any rumors or to be malicious (as has been alleged in the past Angry [:(!]Disapprove [V]), it's simply meant to keep ya'll on 'yer toes. And to have a bit-o-fun. Some folks take this hobby way too seriously, and there's nuthin' wrong with that. But I like to show that I'm not one of them. Well, not on Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays or Sundays that is...

*grins maniacally*

It's not even a wet dream. The original rumor was that Tamiya was coming out with a new 1/48 B-17 which is not true either. A few jokers have done fantasy box art to look like a future Tamiya release but it's all in fun - THERE IS NO B-17 FROM TAMIYA! Or B-24. Sorry.

It's a good place to start. You can dress it up with detail packages from Verlinden, Koster, True Details and Aires. Yes it has raised panel lines but so do the real ones. Don't get too worried about the interior cause you won't be able to see it when done anyway. Look at mine - it turned out pretty nice as the PB4Y.

If it's a Lib in 48th, it's one of the Monogram kits. Personally, I'd wait for Tamiya's... Wink [;)]Tongue [:P]Wink [;)]

Hey Trekki
Sorry to disappoint you but Revellogram ( Revell/Monogram but Monogram is the original manufacturer) is the only one who had the gutts to produce the 1/48 scale B-24 Libby's both the D & J, the kit has been issued as a Hasegawa kit as well as Revell Germany beside Monogram & Revell/Monogram, the kit is pretty fair and it leaves loads of room for superdetailing, I've built these kits about 6 times and have enjoyed it evertime I've built them, and there is loads of aftermarket upgrades out there, if you want to go for broke and make it a Museum Quality piece then I highly recommend you use Verlinden's kit,

Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, October 12, 2003 3:42 PM
I just saw the revell kit of the B24, and the box art got me salivating, but when i opened the box to have a look at it i was disapointed...
So the big Q is, whats the best B-24kit in 1:48?
I havnt seen any kits from any another manufacturer. Is revell the only one that put out a b24 in 1:48, please say this aint so!
