RN Corsair
Posted by wayne baker on Tuesday, October 14, 2003 11:08 AM
I was looking at an Otaki/Arii/Airfix 48th Corsair last night. The kit includes an out of register set of decals for a RN bird. The camoflauge planform shows the wings are clipped 3 to 6 inches. I know RN carriers were smaller than USN with a lower hanger deck, but I have never read about or seen an operational Corsair with squared tips. Is this correct, and how much were they clipped? The kit is not marked so that you can remove the right amount.

I may get so drunk, I have to crawl home. But dammit, I'll crawl like a Marine.

Hi Wayne
They were clipped 8 inches to fit inside the hangar (not "hanger"....that is something you put your shirt on) deck.
Cheers
