Great airshow

Has anybody been to celebrate this whole "Centennial of Flight" thing? Personally, I attended "Wings Over Houston" down at Ellington. The weather was gorgeous, I took some great photos and celebrated 100 years of manned flight.

What if Orville and Wright never got the Flyer in the air? What if they continued to make bikes and be content with that only? How far would we be behind now?

I think we'd pretty much be in the same spot we are now. Most of the aviation advances happened during the two world wars or because of the cold war. If Orville and Wilbur hadn't flown, somebody else would have shortly. But had we not had WWI and WWII, a cold war and space race we would be in a very different spot. Aviation would probably still be a novelty had we not had wars.

And to answer your other question, I went to the Miramar Air Show this weekend (10/18/03). It was great, the JSF mockup was there as well as an FA-18E. And as always the Blue Angels were incredible. Next weekend we are off to Edwards to see the F-22 and the T-Birds.

Lucky guy!!! The only show I got to see this year was the one at Dyess AFB back on August 16th. It was fairly decent too. I got to add about 8 new types to my list!! The B-1 display was good as it consisted of about ten minutes of high speed passes and a couple low speed with everything hanging. The B-2 and F-117 flyby was a waste of time as they made one pass each. The EAA put on a show at Abilene regional but it cost 10 dollars per person!! what happened to them trying to promote aviation? I won't go to a show where you have to pay to get in!!
