Finescale Workbench Review: Trumpeter Mustang
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, February 17, 2003 5:57 PM
I want to thank Finescale Modeler for the great work bench review on Trumpeter's P-51 Mustang. The review was very helpful and the completed Mustang looked really nice. I have yet to start on this kit so the review was helpful in that it prepared me for what lie's ahead when I build it. Right now I'm debating on whether I should build it with the markings of Cripes a Mighty the 3rd or Petie the 2nd. I guess I'll wait until the model is finished before I make up my mind on that. But once again hats off to finescale for a great review.Smile [:)]

Just one point on your choices. If you go with Cripes A Mighty The 3rd you will need to trim off the fairing ont he verticle stabilizer to match that of the P-51B/C It was one of the early D models that was built this way. Petie the 2nd matches the model. Have fun with it!

Who out there wants to see more in 1/24 scale WWII models? How about an FW190A or D? A Ju87D or G? Or--for a REALLY big model--a P-47D? I love this scale (you can almost smell the exhaust when you're done building one!)...Oh...and good luck, Steve, with your new Mustang!

Hey ultmo, if your looking for 1/24th scale FW-190's I know Airfix has them made and they are in Hobby store's everywhere. A P-47? Now that would be nice but with all the grief Trumpeter is getting over the Mustang I highly doubt they will do one, in fact if their soon to be released Spitfire in 1/24th scale gets as much flak as the Mustang has gotton I doubt if they will ever do another 1/24th scale plane at all. Airfix seem's to be only interested in doing Spit's and Mustangs so if they do come out with a P-47 I would be surprised. I just want to add that their is no comparison between Trumps Mustang and the Airfix release, Trumps version is way better in my opinion. Yes the price of Trumps Mustang is high but at least you get something for your money like wheel wells and a complete gun bay and not an open hole. Just my opinion of course.
