NICE!!! (It looks nice anyway)

I just got myself a new box of plastic peices. According to airfix, they're supposed to come together in the shape of a 1/48 BAe Hawk 100 Trainer.Big Smile [:D]

I haven't taken the sprues out of the bags yet, but the instructions look good and clear, the decal sheet is much better than what I usually expect from Airfix and the sprues look fairly flash free.

I've been waiting for a new 1/48 BAe Hawk for years now. Can anyone tell me something about this kit? Any trouble spots I should be watching out for and such?....

It was in top five sales position in the UK, so it must be good...go for it.

Well, I got the sprues out of the bags and its all very nice stuff.

The cockpit walls are beautifully molded on the inside of the fuselage, the landing gear detail is awesome, the clear parts are separately bagged and blemish free, there's very good cockpit detail to see under that big canopy and the aircrew figures are very well sculpted. There's also an option for dropped wing flaps.

I can forsee this kit becoming the target of a lot of aftermarket stuff.

The only drawback I can see is that the plastic has a slightly pebbled surface texture which would require a light sanding if one were going to build it as the glossy blue Canadian version that comes in the kit. If one were to build either of the Australian aircraft in the kit, I think the sanding could be bypassed.
