Hi, folks!
Although I never was very interested in this amazing aircraft, watching the live broadcast of the final landings at Heathrow of the Concorde stirred something within me, so today I went out and bought the only kit I could find: Doyusha's 1/100 offering.
I've built their kits before, so I knew what to expect quality and detail-wise, but I was surprised by one thing: The box features photos of Air France and British Airways aircraft, all with the droop-nosed take-off and landing configuration. Even in this configuration, it's still easy to see that the windscreen is of the current variety (i.e., the one I'm familiar with, the only one I've ever seen!). I'm not an expert on Concordes, by any means, but the windscreen that is included in the kit appears to be that of the early prototypes, or maybe the intitial production aircraft (this deduction based solely on the documentaries I saw yesterday!). In the "up" position, the kit's front windscreen is simply two small, squarish windows, making the Concorde look like some kinda giant X-15. Also, the nose and rear taper of the fuselage appear to be much shorter than photos of current aircraft would indicate.
Can anybody shed any light on these differences? Is this kit just way wrong, or is it a replica of one of the prototypes?
Just as an aside, included in the box was the Doyusha catalogue, which shows a photo of their 1/144 Concorde, which appears to be the modern version that I'm familiar with.
Also, any other good kits of this aircraft out there?
Any info on this topic will be greatly appreciated!
