A W Whitley Woes!
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, October 28, 2003 5:21 AM
The Marquets kit was not too bad. Heaps of flash and some malformed/broken bits. my main problem is that there is no painting instructions and there is only one decal option and no instructions as to what goes where. The decals for the squadron/aircraft ident code letters are six seperate parts. Is there anobody out there who can tell me the squadron codes of A W Whitleys operated by Coastal Command?

Dai.Question [?]

I have Whitley kit, produced very long time ago by some soviet toy manufacturer. Howeve, I believe, this might be the same kit. It had painting scheme on top of it. I'll come back tomorrow with more information.

P.S. I've just found this review:
http://www.fortunecity.com/meltingpot/portland/971/Reviews/raf/whitley.htm
It shows Coastal Command Whitley.

Big Smile [:D] Thankyou Moonwoka,
That link is all that I need to get me out of trouble.
It's a terribuble kit but as the review says it is the only one out there!
Once again Thanks a Million

I'm glad to help. Strange thing, in spite of being "the only game in town" there is some aftermarket stuff for this kit - e.g. Airwaves photoetch. So making beauty of it gets a little easier. Good luck.

Guday Moonwoka'
Thank God for that. Now I wont have to get out the old soldering iron and do some scratch building. Do you know where I might be able to gethold of the Airwaves parts as my nearest hobby shop just sounded dumb when I asked.

As far, as I understand, you are located in Australia. I live in Central Europe and have little idea about hobbyshops in Your part of the world Shy [8)]. I can think of two ways. If You have Your favorite on-line hobby shop, maybe they have it. Or You could contact Airwaves directly at http://www.airwaves.org.uk/index.asp and ask, if they have seller in Australia.
I wish, i could help You more.

And don't forget to visit http://www.falconmodels.co.nz/ - they have clear wax canopy set for 72nd Whitley, and three links to Australian sellers.
