AIRFIX SPARE PARTS

That kit is still in production, so you should be able to get one direct from Airfix. I once bought a 1/72 Airfix Ford Tri Motor and upon opening the box, discovered three entire parts trees were missing. I used the little parts request slip that came with the kit and Airfix ended up sending me a whole new kit! BTW, I'm retired Air Force and all those PCS moves taught me how to pack assembled models for shipment! Also, you might want to check this site:

I bought an Airfix 1/72 Harrier and the main canopy was missing. I send them a letter with the slip and a check to insure that they didn't treat my case as someone trying to get a free part. I received the new canopy and my check back with a very nice letter apologizing for the trouble. i still buy and build their kits. Try it and see. I've also had similiar experience with Fujimi, but they took my check. No big deal. I think I paid $3.00 for a MIG-21 canopy so I was a happy camper.

i myself have had missing parts in airfix kits,mostly canopys(1/48 harrier frs1,1/72 harrier 2 seater & lightning )
very annoying,i too wrote to airfix about the center canopy missing in the harrier 2 seater & decals mis-printed,i recieved 2 packages with the missing parts & decals as well as a letter.if not,try hannants(.co.uk)

So...to come back to this subject....

I just emailed Airfix about a week and a half ago looking for copies of landing gear parts for their 1/72nd Mig-15 which didn't come in the package (honest).

In the email, I asked if it was possible to get the parts still, if so how could I arrange to have them sent to me, and if not, could they suggest an aftermarket set.

Should I not hold my breath at this point and not expect a response, or are they slow to respond, or do they respond at all?

I purchased the 1/24 Sea Harrier, and the front part of the canopy was broken, I went back to the shop and they contacted the importers who supplied me with a full set of clear parts, including the GR1 parts that are also included as unused parts in the kit. Took a few weeks, I guess the importers had them sent out from Airfix. Seemed to be no problem.

Just sent them an e mail about a missing Vulcan canopy.
I had a reply within 5 minutes!
Its a pity other companies dont take that kind of approach with customer service.

What's kinda funny is for a long time I wouldn't even consider buying an Airfix kit. But, if I'm in the mood for a quick and dirty build n' paint, they really fit the bill. I usually only make their 1/72nd scale planes but now I might have to consider moving up to some of their bigger kits.

Build the 1/48 Buccaneer ,the Lightning or the spitfire f22/24 seafire f46/47 and you will not be dissapointed.
The lightning and the 'brick' were worth the wait,and the spitfires/seafires
are some of the best looking that i've seen.
Some of their kits are not the best, but unlike Monogram. their 48th Spitfire v has accurate lines and I built one recently and once painted looked terrific.
If you are into 1/72nd bombers you will not find as extensive a selection anywhere else.
Having unlimited access to the RAF Museum at Hendon didn't do any harm either.
Their decal sheets are another matter!

In addition, as a little kid, I'd get my dad to buy me the figure sets they'd sell. I can't remember the scale, pretty small...the figues were less than an inch tall, but you got like 40 of them in a box. They had Astronauts, gladiators, german infantry, paratroopers...etc..

Well, anyway, to get completely off subject, I used to stage major land wars on our HO Train set with them. They were great fun!

Hi Garyfo Just to let you know - the Airfix figures were oo/ho scale that works out at roughly 1/76th. near enough to go with 1/72 without looking odd...Gregers

I'm impressed. I can't get the Human Resources department where I work to answer my calls, but Airfix will ship me spart parts across 'the pond' at their expense.

I'll be puchasing a brand new Airfix kit to celebrate....always wanted to make a Lancaster....

Long way back, my Dad got one of the 1/43 Heller Peugeot Group C cars with an incompletely formed body. He too was impressed by the service. (Airfix and Heller are basically the same company now, though I dunno if that applies to the relevant CS departments...)

For my experience, Hasegawa, Airfix (part of Humbrol) and Heller have a great spare parts department, since they've sent me everything i've requested until now....

Revell has gonne down the pit, since now they charge for parts!!!!!!!!!
But not for decals!!!!!!!!!!

And all the others i've tryed, for me, they've gonne sunk!!!!!!!!!
I've got an Academy's 1/72 F-14A Tomcat put aside because they don't even reply to my request for the decals!!!!!!
Never more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And of course, for old manufacturers, no hope!!!!
How can anyone request parts to Kangnam and Fujimi??????
I don't really know.....

I must agree with all of you people. Airfix send me the parts I asked for within 2 days....UK adress. Regarding Academy the UK importer then Toyway asked for 5 pounds which was the price of the kit I had bought. If I have to pay for the complete kit what is the point of the replacement? that is they send me the part I asked for and not the complete kit......

After reading this thread & recently coming back to this hobby after 20 odd years, I found a Hasegawa Orion circa 1984 which is unbuilt. At the time one of the Props was busted & I didn't think there was much that could be done.

Fast forward to last Thursday (June 26), I send an email to Hase asking for a replacement prop. Worth a shot, Ithought, as they still make a 1/72 Orion. Lo and behold, exactly 7 days later an efficiently packed air mailed replacement turns up here (in Australia). I must say I am impressed, now I can do this kit after all these years. Kudos to Hase for the speedy service & thanks to the people on this forum who gave me the idea. CV

My Vulcan bits turned up on monday last - less than 2 weeks after my initial
e mail.
Well done - and boy am I looking forward to those 1/48 Hawks and the 1/48
Mosquitos - they are even including USAAF markings for one of the mossies -
how standards are slipping, I mean really- colonial mossies? SIGH!
