Marine A-7s?
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, October 31, 2003 9:46 AM
Does anyone know if the Marines ever used the A-7E Corsair II? For some reason, I thought they did, but I can't find anything on it.
Thanks in advance,
Scott

To my knowledge SLUF was only used by the Navy and Airforce/guard/res forces
The Corps was more than happy with the A6, A4 and F4.
I have never seen a photo of a USMC evaluation aircraft although I would imagine this would been carried out by the Navy at Pax River.

I guess I'd be happy w/ those choices too, but I'd love to have seen one in Devil Dogs markings. Too bad. Maybe I'll do a "what if..." thing.
Thanks for the note!

Scott,

I thought that you threw that A-7 of yours away. I just recently found some info in an A-4 book that said the USMC decided not to use the A-7 because they wanted to wait for the A-4M. How about that, huh? See you at Big Four Hobbies on Saturday for their contest.

Scott,

As Gary mentioned, A-7s never made it into USMC inventory. We used to fly F-8 Crusaders though.
