Italeri Me262
Posted by KJ200 on Friday, November 7, 2003 7:14 AM
I am looking for a cheap and cheerful project this month, and discovered an Italeri 1/48th Me262 in LHS for £10.00.

I know the Tamyia kit is the business, but don't fancy the price much.

Question is:

Is the Italeri beast any good?

I'm not adverse to getting out the plasticard and wire and doing some scratchbuilding.

I have had pretty good luck with this company in the past, especially with 1:72 modern aircraft like F14 and F18. I will be curious to see other opinions, however. I can tell you, the Tamiya is a marvelous build. I just completed one and it was awesome!

if you look at Pixilators 262 on here it will tell you what the Dragon kits like

I have the 262 and can't wait to build it.
I am trying to get hold of the TA152H to go with it.
They make a lovely couple.

Pix's post ID= 9209 has a list of areas that need extra attention on
the DML Me 262's. I believe it's on page two.Lots of information on the
other pages too.

Thanks guys.

I was looking at the Dragon 262 night fighter the other week, as it was going a measly £9, but like a fool thought I would come back the following week and get it.

Of course it had already gone by then, as had the Hobbycraft Ju88C night fighter, again in 1/48.

Oh well.

looks like I'll be getting the 262 next week then.

Thanks

Karl

Thanks John.
I just found one on a UK website and ordered it yesterday.
Hopefully the postal strike hasn't caused too much of a backlog

From the looks of it in the box I guess you can say its subpar. I dont see how it could be compared to the dragon kit due to the fact that it lacks alot of detail. I am sure that there will be an aftermarket blitz for it though.
