                        It is funny that you guys are talking about the C-130 landing on the Forrestal, a lady was in the library here just yesterday and talking about it and trying to find more information on it. She said that they were showing a C-130 landing on an aircraft carrier on JAG and that her brother was on the Forrestal when they were really doing it.

                        My model club is builder a 1/48 WWII Japanese Air Craft Carrier for a modeling Expo here in Australia. It is one of the small escort carriers the Shoho. (not sure how you spell it.)

                        The flattop would allow all of us to display our models together in the same dio. Speaking of large aircraft, I remember seeing a black & white photo in the Time-Life series of books on Vietnam that showed a C-130 catapaulting off the deck of an A/C carrier during the conflict. Unbelievable!! Can anyone who's had first-hand experience confirm this? Can't imagine it ever landed back on the carrier, though.

                        There was some white metal modern navy deck crew made about ten years ago. A friend gave me all of his because he was going back to armor. I don't know who made them because they came in a plastic bag. There are twelve different ones that were given to me. I try to find who made them and if they are still available.

                        Sorry, I don't want to give mine up. I will need them when I build my 1/48 scale USS Eishenower.Laugh [(-D]

                        Lessee, at 1092 feet, a 1/48 scale Nimitz would be 273 inches long, or 22 feet, 9 inches. Well, it WOULD fit in my living room - just - but then nothing else would!

                        Yeah I remember that kit... My dad had to move the El Camino out of the garage. I didn't build it cause it had raised panel lines... ; )

                        Does anyone have a relatively complete list of 1/48 scale accessories for a/c carrier dioramas? I see the previous post on figures, and I think I've noted all those.
                        Blast deflector shields? I've seen a 1/72 scale, too small.
                        What about tractors? Verlinden makes a set of tractors and a fire truck. Any others?
                        Anyone making the crane that sits behind the island?
                        Flightpath makes tie-downs and chains and tow bars. Any others?

                        If anyone's scratchbuilt these things, please post up some pics. I think a large scale carrier diorama would be an awesome project.
