I just have to say, that is an amazing job of applying that photo etch!  How many hours did that take you?

Really nice work on the Taifun BSY. The work on the cockpit and canopy stands out. I didn't know this aircraft ever made it over to Japan until you started.

Cut the original cockpit floor to use as dime for a new one, in the real one the floor have two heights

The clear canopy.. too thick seems to me, probably will thermorforming a new one to display it opened

Gear wells need more dept so i cut the ceiling

so the gear works better :)

the kit exhausts... feels like another replacement is needed 

out of these works also started to rescribe deeper panel lines to avoid paint covering

Nice work so far on the Tenzen, esp impressed with your redoing the shallow gear bays. I think a lot of kits have those too small but I've never tried to correct them before.

Hi everybody

Some little more steps of my snail-pace, slow progress.

Wings and fuselage assembled and left aside for the glue to dry (now that the plane got it's basic form, I realize she is a real beauty). This kit has amazing fit, especially the jig for the wings-to-fuselage alignment is ingenious.

Zvezda: Nice work! Love the drilled out cannon barrel. I built one of those years ago, great kit!

OK the P/E has now been laid on the Aircraft Deck. To say it was fun is a huge misnomer. laying the Cradle Rails was not fun at all. Will have some more soon......Cheers mark

got back to this after practicing silly putty camo on a JGPZ-IV, WTC-12 locomotive, and canasian GRIZZLY. ready for dark green.

green is done. probably needs a little touch up here and there but it's better than the previous ones. now for the fiddly stuff like railings, hatch assemblies, headlights and mirrors, painting vision blocks.

Waynec: Lol, I was thinking 'She's been slimed!!!' Great looking end result, I've used the Silly Putty too and swear by the stuff.

i was doing some touch up with the silly putty and had some redidue paint not sticking issue. when i did the green i left the putty on and put it under 2 100W light bulbs. i'm thinking maybe the heat caused the putty to leave a residue not seen with the naked eye. have you seen this? next time i will remove the putty before heating it. should be done by monday.

Funny, sorry I really have no idea. I've never heated the putty when I had it on though. I can't claim to be an expert though, I've only used it 2-3 times but it worked great when I did.

Sorry I can't be more help, maybe if you ask on the tools and techniques or armour forum someone might know?

Ah, sorry. If this if your fourth use of Silly Putty you're more experienced with it than me! I did start on a Chinese six wheel IFV a few years ago with the large front windows. I just painted the insides of the clear parts gloss black and installed them. Then painted white glue over them as a mask assuming I can pop it out when done. Sadly I got the kit about 95% done and stalled out on it, really need to finish the darn thing.

Ah cool, I wasn't sure what war wheels you have, nice collection. I've only got the one kit there, picked it up on a deep discount sale at Squadron to practice some new techniques on.

those are just the modern asian warwheels. also have 4 RUSSIAN + 2 1/72, 1 CANADIAN, 10 AMERICAN, 2 USMC, 2 ITALIAN, 3 GERMAN + 4 1/72, 1 FRENCH, 1 CZECH, 1 SA-2 and 2 SCUDs. plus 3 firetrucks.

here is the "finished" clean version. decals just didn't want to play but was probably my fault. tires are not glued so they may be ill-aligned (?) (is that even a word). well warwheels don't have indy tracks but they can have wheel attachment issues and complex headlight/mirror assys. i added the red and white dragon because it looks like a rising sun from the distance. won't win any prizes but once again i learned some stuff.

not sure how i'm going to weather this one. i know powders/pastels on the top and upper sides and don't want it too dirty so may powder the suspension instead of air brushing mud. i don't want to hide the camo pattern like on my GRIZZLY, just dirty it up and hide the boogers.

Hey looks great to me, the camo looks perfect, I assume you got the places the paint didn't want to stick touched up? And the chains on the rear hatches, I assume you added since they don't look molded on, nice detail work there. I wouldn't want to add much mud and grime either, maybe just dirty up the tires and lower hull? 

the chains are in the kit, 2 connectors and cut the chain for each hatch. pe around the headlight assy is a tad rough. i learned to paint the edges of windoes black to cut down on shine and simulate gaskets and will remove the silly putty before curing.

it's done. a little rough in spots but the weathering showa the camo. i used pastels for the dust and dirt, MMA for the painting.
