I'd like to thank everybody for your kind comments and compliments on my collection.
I'll try to respond to all inquiries here.
Ricardo and kaleu, the acrylic display cases for ships were made to order, I asked my
modeler to order from a shop and deliver it to me along with the ship. The case for the
Sovremenny Destroyer is made of 5mm thick clear acrylic (even its base is clear) and
costed me $50 plus $7.50 allowance for the modeler's time in contacting the shop.
All aluminium showcases were bought in the market, and all wooden showcases were
made to order.
David, I myself quitted modeling for some 5-6 years now because if I do them myself
then nobody would want to look at my models or Webpages since I have no modeling
talent. I have found some of the best modelers to model for me, i.e., 'Art Instructor'
has been working on armors and dioramas for 3-4 years, and 'Niphon' who has started
just this year working on warplanes and warships.
Dwight, if you have a chance to come to Bangkok again (or any of you here have
such chance), you may call me 02-392-3709 to ask for the direction to my house.
Some local Thai have already visited my house and viewed my collection, but
not yet a foreigner. I'd be glad to welcome you!.;-)
BARsrules2, those figure sets could be worth some money. But that will be nothing
compared to what I have spent. Just during the past 7 years, I've spent more than
1 M Baht ($ 25,000 at current exchange rate) on models & modeling services.
You might think I'm rich, but that is wrong, I'm still using a 17 years old Honda
MTX-125 - an offroad motorbike - as my personal vehicle to go anywhere in Bangkok.
It can do 50-60 miles per gallon, that's a lot of savings!.
With so much positive feedbacks, I want to show the rest of my collection in and
around my house. Hopefully Page 18 - Part F will be available in a few days time,
and I'll let you know in this Forum. Thanks again!.
