Sorry it took so long to get them up all!

Roy did an outstanding job on his 1/16 Tiger and I just had to make this post outside of the normal build thread too!

Here it is in all it's glory:

Roy

That one nice job!

Two questions:
1. Are you going to give it a good weathering, chiped paint and so on?

2. I notice you have left off the first outer road wheel as done on the russian front to stop clogging. Where did you get the hub? was it part of the kit or did you make it? I cant find it on mineAngry [:(!] and i was going to do the same as you.

Hiya guys,

First off: Thank you all very much for your praise. It took me four months to build! This is only the second AFV I've built in the past year, and 90% of the techniques I used to build this one were attributed to the things I learned from this forum and you guys and gals. This tank is the result of your input and ideas. Thank you for your help.
Now, to answer some questions... No, I don't think that I'll weather it too much more than I already have. I drybrushed steel to give it a metallic appearance and used rust colored pastel chalk for rust. It's kinda hard to see in the pics, sorry. Box 1, as for the hubs, they came with the kit and there are at least 4 of them. Do you not have them? If you check out the first page of my build on erock68's website, look at the 7th picture. (It's the one showing a sprue of road wheels with the base color applied.) If you look in the lower right hand corner, you will see one of the hubs.Wink [;)]

very nice , i've been reading that 1/16 tiger thread and it almost makes me want to build a RC Panther. i'm curious how much did it cost you with all those motors and gearboxes and all that stuff

Note to Box 1: I did have to sand the rims of those hubs a bit because I found that they
can rub against the rubber of the second road wheel.

Hey Pantherlehr, I have to say that I've been wanting to do a nice Panther tank for a long time. In fact, I've been drooling over the thought of a 1/16 scale Full Option Panther by Tamiya. Unfortunately, I don't see one in the immediate future. As for a cost breakdown, I never really counted it up. So I will try now. I rounded the prices to the nearest US dollar.

Aluminum barrel: $35-40
Rear PE Exhaust screens: $15
Type 4 Gear boxes: $105
Zagi motors: $20
Parts from Dirk Koernell: $50 with postage from Germany
Zimm-It-Rite: $15
Futaba Attack Transmitter: $150 or so.
4 NIMH 3000 MAH batteries and a 959 Superbrain charger: $200
Extra parts from Tamiya for kitbash: $100
Tamiya Battle Unit: $80
Paint: $45
Misc parts and tools: $100
Oh yeah, the kit itself costed me: $550

I can't bear to add it up...

Whoa! $$$$$$$! I don't feel quite so bad about what I've been spending on my 1/35 stuff!

Roy, I'm sorry to say that I can't bring up the pics. Our filter here seems to block a lot of that stuff out and my home connection is soooo s--l--o--w !! But from what the others have said, it sounds like you've done a terrific job, so I'll congratlate you and wish you the best.

yikes , yeah lots of money and the price of the kit itself wasn't in your list either... looking at around a 1000-1200 cdn i would guess , i was planning on buying myself a 2nd 22inch monitor but for the same price i can get a nice panther , humm decisions decisions

Hey Pantherlehr, when you talk about getting a Panther, what scale? Is it R/C? I'm dying to get my hands on a 1/16 R/C Panther!

if i do get one its going to be 1/16 , 1/32 wouldn't be quite as much fun i think. won't happen for a few months though i'm just starting to build myself a little money cushion again , i blew quite a bit getting all kinds of tools and what not since i started modeling 3 months ago but i'm prety much all set now. would be a interesting project thats for sure

I've already showered Roy with accolades over at the group build thread, but why not do it again, eh?
That's a nice Tiger, Roy! Great camo, great zim. Can we post video links here? I'd love to see that kitty tearing around your kitchen!

On 1/16 Panthers:
I've never seen a 1/16 Panther by anybody. 1/25 and 1/24, yes, and even a 1/8 Panther, but never a 1/16...would be nice if Tamiya would do one, but I'm afraid their next big tank will be a Leopard 2A5.

Thanks guys. Praise from you guys is more than I could have hoped for and means more than you realize. Hey J-Hulk, thanks for everything bro. When you see Mr. Tamiya, tell him we want a 1/16 Full Option Panther! I can't wait to see what you do with your Tiger. As for my pics here in the forum, ask Eric if he'll post em'. Lord knows I can't!
