Wait... is that... is that the barracks behind those tanks?Cool [8D]

allan:

thanx 4 checking out my pix !

i appreciate ur comments all the more coming from another small scale modeler... i still remember the pix u posted of ur M551 sheridan, which was quite impressive and made me want 2 work harder & do better myself !

and altho' the structures behind the afvs r part of my n scale model railroad, it serves pretty well as a backdrop... and even little 1/72 scale tankers need to lie down and rest between missions ! Big Smile [:D]

more info:

the panzer iv is a hasegawa 1/72 kit, as is the pink panther. the chieftain is by airfix., an old kit first billed as 1/76 and now sold as 1/72.. same kit, tho'...

my confession:

i wish i could take credit for the track sag on the panzer iv, but the fact is that there r little pins molded into the underside of the fenders which automatically create the proper sag when u join the upper & lower hull pieces... a very well engineered kit IMHO ! normally i'd create the same effect w/ little pieces of styrene rod or toothpicks, but this time the kit did that work 4 me Blush [:I]!
the trax r very nice glueable vinyl 'rubber bands' which 4 once were the rite length to go all the way around..i've had 2 hide a gap on most vinyl tracked afvs i've built so far, one reason why i really love side skirts, LOL !

phew, i feel better now ....Blush [:I]
but i hope that's not the only thing to like about the model...Sad [:(]

So how'd you do the track sag on the 1/72 scale? 1/35 has its own complications to achieve track sag but 1/72 has to be a bear. Are they indys? or vinyl? or were they molded like that? Thats the attention to detail I like. And that impresses me.

Great looking kits! Are these kits Revell-Germany, or someone else? I especially like the Panzer IV! Keep up the good work.

Display bases, display bases. I highly reccomend them. Its sort of like matting and framing a picture. Makes a nice presentation and allows you to display the model without having to touch it. It also discourages people from picking up the model to view it. They tend to keep it on the table then and turn it using the base.
Again. Nice job. I know I've given you a hard time about the micro armor, but you do it well. You have a nice attention to detail. Keep it up. I imagine we'll be seeing you in some of the show results.

Mike:
first off, thanx 4 ur compliments; when folks whose work i admire say nice things about my own stuff, it means a lot ! i have 2 say that it's been the exposure to the higher standards of work i'm seeing on this site that has really kicked my efforts up a notch or 2, not 2 mention the great support, enthusiasm &
flow of info from everyone !

the next set of pix will probably feature 2 display bases i've already done, a desert scene and a winter one... i also have an urban combat zone dio in the planning stages, but haven't decided whether to go WWii or Iraq yet.

and i do my homework (and most of my modeling) at the kitchen table !Smile [:)]

thanx again !

DT:

thanx 4 the compliments ! please do try an afv in small scale, i can hardly wait to see what u come up with, and it'll help stretch ur hobby budget...not to mention looking pretty good next to ur 1/72 a/c ! i know ur an abrams fan; the revell AG abrams m1a1HA (heavy armor) kit is pretty sweet in the box, and Major G. says it's just about the best in 1/72... and when it comes to anything abrams, i'd say trust a guy who's got a few of 'em parked rite near his office !Big Smile [:D]
and i know exactly what u mean about running out of space ! do u have any models in ur office at work ?

wowie zowie !
thanx 2 u all 4 such positive reactions 2 my work !
(i was just hoping i wouldn't embarrass myself 2 much, really ) !

first, i want to apologize to Robert 4 not reading his comment about my panzer iv properly ( i was kind of in a hurry and mistakenly thought he was talking about the Panther). i did install the idler wheels where they were supposed 2 go as far as the kit instructions were concerned, but if they're wrong, i can always redo them (got any ref pix 4 me ?) or just keep the side skirts on i guess.

all pix r of 1/72 scale models (more nominal than actual 4 airfix, or so i've heard).... i put a quarter in the foreground 2 show scale (it looks huge!!!!)

the pink Panther project has been fun; i give thanx and all due respect 2 Shermanfreak, Renarts, & DJModels who kind of dared me into it... (otherwise i probably wouldn't have had the nerve 2 do something so girly)[Wink [;)]

about painting roadwheels in 1/72: this is probably the most tedious part of afv modeling in small scale. i use a very small brush, an optivisor and lots of patience ...

to petbat: girls neater than boys ? that's the rumor... well, all i can say is my room is a real mess most of the time (mom says it's toxic, actually), and most of my friends r the same way ! Blush [:I]

brian-sama: what appears to b a small city is actually a small bit of my n-scale model railroad. i don't have a desk in my room, since the desk top serves as the base 4 part of the rr, so i posed my afvs on one part of the rr which is not too covered w/ structures (or other junk that just accumulates due to not having a desk... LOL !) makes a kind of interesting background tho'!
thanx again 2 u all !

Thanks Eric, where would dopes like me be if not for guys like you.

Very, very nice Frosty. Love the colour on the Panther. Still looks lean and mean, even pink.

Lets see now, a green one, a yellow one and a pink one...............what colour of the rainbow are you going to try next? LOL

One thing though....aren't girls supposed to be neater than boys? Your work area looks as cluttered as mine.

Glad you found your USB port. Keep posting the pics.
