That's one cool little kit, but he can keep it for anything like $400!!! Wow! Super rare, indeed!

Thanks, Eric.

I wonder if Kohler could make a bathtub that big... if so, we'll add some tracks, an Evenrude, some port holes and make our own! Interesting vehicle, eh what?

From the "Encyclopedia of German Tanks Of WWII" by Peter Chamberlain and Hilary Doyle, on page 157.

"Land-Wasser-Schlepper: A fully-tracked amphibious tractor powered by a Maybach HL 120 engine. It could achieve 35km/hr on roads, and 12km/hr in water. Total weight was 17 tons and could accomodate up to 20 men. The normal function was seen as towing. The LWS saw service in the east."

what the heck??? lol it looks like a hybrid of a tank and a PT boat (which it probably is) but hey its not much different from a car turned into a boat.

How to Camo without Camo. The Russians probably thought it was a 'pleasure boat' and left it alone. LOL

I have seen pictures of this before. I wouldn't mind having something like that in my collection, but $399.00 is a little out of my price range. Thanks Eric for sharing the link with us.

yeah they were to be an amphibious tractor that could tow a floating trailer. they were to be used to carry men and supplies when germany invaded britian, but the project was scrapped after germany gave up those ambitions, and only 7 were made. they were all sent to the Russian front.

Yup, that is a nutty vehicle!
I had never seen one until modelling buddy Mr. Fujihara brought his diorama to "The 17th Armour Modeller's Conference in Kansai" last September, where he took the Bronze Award.

Here are a coupla pix:

Like Norio, who participates here at FSM, Mr. Fujihara is another of the masters I get to learn from! Lucky me!Big Smile [:D]

I'm sure Mr. Fujihara will be pleased to hear it's selling for 400 bucks, since I think he got his for about 1,500 yen (about $13 USD)!

Either he got a great deal, or that seller's off a decimal or two!Big Smile [:D]

Well you could have bid whatever you liked on the kit, the 300+ was a 'buy it now' price.
looks like the seller took down the auction anyway.
there was a reserve price on it, but no way to tell what it was set at.
so you could bid $10 on it, but he does not have to sell it too you if his reserve is higher.

Saaaaayyyy, now there's an idea! Scratchbuild a Skipper and Gilligan figure, and paint 'er up like the SS Minnow!
An excellent idea for a diorama!
