                        I wonder if Kohler could make a bathtub that big... if so, we'll add some tracks, an Evenrude, some port holes and make our own! Interesting vehicle, eh what?

                        From the "Encyclopedia of German Tanks Of WWII" by Peter Chamberlain and Hilary Doyle, on page 157.

                        "Land-Wasser-Schlepper: A fully-tracked amphibious tractor powered by a Maybach HL 120 engine. It could achieve 35km/hr on roads, and 12km/hr in water. Total weight was 17 tons and could accomodate up to 20 men. The normal function was seen as towing. The LWS saw service in the east."

                        yeah they were to be an amphibious tractor that could tow a floating trailer. they were to be used to carry men and supplies when germany invaded britian, but the project was scrapped after germany gave up those ambitions, and only 7 were made. they were all sent to the Russian front.

                        Yup, that is a nutty vehicle!
                        I had never seen one until modelling buddy Mr. Fujihara brought his diorama to "The 17th Armour Modeller's Conference in Kansai" last September, where he took the Bronze Award.

                        Like Norio, who participates here at FSM, Mr. Fujihara is another of the masters I get to learn from! Lucky me!Big Smile [:D]

                        I'm sure Mr. Fujihara will be pleased to hear it's selling for 400 bucks, since I think he got his for about 1,500 yen (about $13 USD)!

                        Well you could have bid whatever you liked on the kit, the 300+ was a 'buy it now' price.
                        looks like the seller took down the auction anyway.
                        there was a reserve price on it, but no way to tell what it was set at.
                        so you could bid $10 on it, but he does not have to sell it too you if his reserve is higher.
