I like to hand paint mine with a dark gun metal for a base coat. Then after that dries for a few hours, dry brush over it with a red brown or rust color. Then when that is all dried well, I like to use a product called "Rub and Buff" Its used for the backs of mirrors. I just put a little on the tip of my index finger, then rub the excess off on a paper towel, then rub my finger tip over the raised parts of the tracks. This makes those parts that contact the ground look worn. I hope this helps a little bit. Chris.
