Munitionpanzer and rebuild.
After twenty years or so away from modeling, finding this site has encouraged me to take it up again.
So...I thought I would try something different, a "what if" munitionpanzer for the Sturmtigers that I have in the stash. Take a late JP, remove the gun, install some racks, and rework the top plate for the 38cm rockets. So far it looks like it will only hold six rockets in the racks and one on the dolly. I have a set of Tamiya "G" tracks to replace the RB ones and need to pick up some grill screens.
Just for fun if anyone has woundered what a Sturmpanther might look like:
I know, I need to improve on the photo skills. Of course it wouldn't work in real life as the breach would hit the tranny. I've started to fill in the gun mount and need to do some sanding.
Now for the rebuild. I built this many, many years ago. Before the net and the dot filter weathering. Looking at it now I can see all of the things that need to be fixed. Of course the broken off drive sprocket, barrel seam, open up the driver visor, get rid of the field jerry can rack on the right side, and install the jack block. A total repaint to get rid of the black powder barrel and slivered decals. Paint the tools, add the steel to the inner road wheels and tracks, and get the sag correct. Get rid of the front fenders (way too thick and no detail on the light). If I'm going to be painting one I might as well do two at the same time. The photos show the color to be brown when it is dark green, need to improve on the lighting I think. I found the box and inside was the bow MG painted, but still on the sprue along with the top hatches. 20 some years and it is still not finished.
Any C&C are welcome.
Thanks, Gary
