1/72 Panther with Zimmerit pic

Hiya,

just to show you my zimmerit coating on Revell's ausf.A. Turned out better than I thought as when I was doing the pattern, some 'tiles' or part of them, came off verty realisticaly.

The zimmerit is simply putty thinly applied over the kit bits with a cocktail stick. The main pattern (squares) was done with a blunt blade, the vertical pattern inside each square with a brand new one.

Next, adding the details, then primer!

i can hardly wait 2 see what it looks like when u've added the details & primed this little cat !
i forget what scheme r u going 2 use 4 final paint, but i'm sure whatever u choose will b "magnifique" !
and mille mercies 4 sending me that info on the ersatz; my flu has made me more forgetful than usual, so i apologize for being tardy in my thanx !
sorry if i seemed rude, i was just out of it... Sad [:(]

feeling much better now, thank goodness !

No problem, Frosty, just happy you got the stuff and hoping it may be useful...

I'm afraid I'm going for a rather plain boring overall sand scheme, for a Panther Panzerbefehlswagen (command vehicle) of Panzer Regiment Grossdeutchland, as shown in the Osprey/Vanguard book (page 15).

I reserve a more ambitious scheme for the KingTiger... (still coming, I assure you!) I think the effects of the washes and drybrushing on this Zimmerited Panther will give be really good looking.

I like it a lot... I have an enormous amount of respect for you guys and gals who build small scale. Its just too tedious for me. Great work.... Didn't believe it was 1/72 at first.

I've got that kit, the Revell Panther D/A or rather parts of it that are included in the PIO Models Bergepanther(0 Series). Any problems working with the hull? (My kit doesn't include the turret).

I see you've blanked off the engine grills, I was wondering what the actual engine comaprtment might of looked like and try to put some small 1/35 scale Jeep engine or something inside for S&Gs.

Rob, honestly, it's a nice kit, with very few problems in terms of fit. The joint between the back of the engine 'deck' and the back plate was no the best ever, but that was easy to fix. The only 'big' disappointment (so far) was the sink holes on the sides of the hull (the parts holding the wheels). It's not as good as their (Revell's) later armour kits, but still much better than the old Hasegawa, Matchbox and Airfix kits (I've never seen the Fujimi).

Really handsome work. It's a Late A, right? What outfit are you painting it up for? Some of them chipped off some of the zimm to put the markings on. LSSAH did that on their late A's, frinstance.

Nice job! Your Zim looks incredibly authentic! You are truly a master!

That's one thing I'm afraid to do is try Zim on something so small. Still, I said the same about P/E parts too, and I handled them okay. So, maybe I just might have to give it a shot.....
