Sherman Diorama in Progress
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, December 10, 2003 2:19 PM
Hi Ya'll

Here is my diorama being built for my "parts box Sherman". There will eventually be a German MG nest on the rise in the corner and some GIs ducked behind the wall. The Sherman still needs some weathering to the tracks, but not till I complete the diorama so they match. Thats supposed to be a plowed field in the corner. The grass is a combination of static grass and spices.

God Bless
Kenneth

From the post months ago about the tank itself...
QUOTE: Thought I would add a run down on the scrap kits used. Italeri hull and suspension M4A1, Turret from the Italeri Sherman Calliope
kit, Tamiya tracks, Some Academy Wheels, Tamiya-DML-Academy hull details. Plus a little scratchbuilding. for the armour plates and fender brackets.

Lots of fun to build. I wanted something OD to paint to practice before I painted my Dragon Wagon. I learned a great deal on this otherwise free kit.

wow that looks good! I'm asuming that the mg nest is abandoned? That field looks like its been harrowed, not plowed though. looks like a field anyways Smile [:)] I like your grass! did you sculpt the wall and rubble yourself?

That stars position is kinda funny, although I am sure its in the right location. It almost shouts "shoot me here" cause its between 2 areas of extra armor:-) Wll done so far sir, be glad to see the final results.

Thanks Ya'll,

M1abramsrules, Yep its abandoned...

Miller41, I see your point. It does look a little out of place. I am thinking of making it a painted out star. Like I said it isn't really done yet.

Tigerman, Boy Scouts...Big Smile [:D] It isn't really an knot I don't believe....but it'll hold....!

Airbrush,....I used some old techstar static grass and whatever spices look right. Spread some glue sprinkle and let it dry. If its still thin then add some watered down white glue and put some more grass down. Then paint it all. Emal me for a more descriptive explanation...

Thanks again ya'll... This is a fun project and hopefully I will finnish it all soon.

God Bless,
Kenneth

Nice Job! I take it M1Abrams is from a farm, knowing the different looks of the harrowed vs. the plowed field!

Looking forward to seeing the finished dio!

I live in a small town in the middle of the grain belt. That's what I do for a part time job, is work on a farm.
