Milliput / Zimmerit

Craft stores should carry the various type of Milliput. The one you want is the 'grey/green' variety that comes in a white/red box. I know the cost is high in the US, but a pack will last you quite a bit, particularly if you work on small areas at a time. Mix too much and there will be waste....

thanks for the info. i saw that link last week and thats what got me up to trying the zim again. using the razor holder for the zim tool is a great idea, but i found that using the two diffrent putties was a pain in the rear. trying to get them to just the right thicknes was hard enough, not to mention working quickly so that it didnt dry up and then to make the markings on top of that. its not an easy task. anyway any idea what craft stores,i tried looking at some of their web sites and didnt have any luck finding the milliput

Speaking of the zimmerit link, does anybody else have problems finding talcum powder? The only stuff I've been able to find is the sented kind, and I don't particularly want my tanks smelling like a perfume store.

Have you heard of or considered R&J Products "Zimm-It-Rite"? I used it on my 1/16 Tamiya Tiger I and loved it. This was also the first time I ever tried to apply zimm. The stuff comes in two separate containers that you mix in equal quantities as you need it. It takes a full 12 hours to harden and you can work it for a few hours before it becomes tough. Plus, it won't craze the plastic like putty will. All you have to do it sand the surface of the model before applying the zimm. One $10 order did my Tiger with plenty to spare. I would highly recommend using the application technique in the above website that djmodels1999 put out. Good luck.

Baby powder will just be fine. Don't worry, after a coat of paint, it won't be smelling nice anymore!
