May I ask a couple of newbie questions? I don't normally build armor - it's usually aircraft and cars for me. However, I do have an M1A1 and M2A3, and recent military events have piqued my interest in doing a small diorama with them.
Yesterday afternoon there was a very long train filled with military vehicles parked in the Union Pacific Yard I pass on my way home from work. There was no heavy armor, but support vehicles of every type including many variants of HMMWVs, HEMTTs, transport trucks, earth moving equipment, and probably others I missed. They looked well used - possibly coming back from Iraq.
My question concerns color. The vehicles on the train were considerably lighter than the typical medium tan sand color I see depicted on the color charts. I would describe it as a very light dull beige. Does the paint fade with use or sunlight? Are the support vehicles painted differently from the armor? I will definitely paint my armor a lighter color if what I saw yesterday is representative.
Also, does anyone make a 1/35 modern railroad car like the flat cars used to transport military vehicles?
