I didn't know about the decals in the Tamiya kit.
I did find 2 pctures in "US Tank Destroyers in action" both are are of the front one was taken in Sicily and the other in France.

That's the painting that got me started on this project. I first saw it on the cover of the May 2002 issue of "World War II" magazine.

you should be able to find a current army link for the Audie Murphy board, it's a board for outstanding NCO's, kinda like a honor society thing. But my point is they have to know just about averything about the man and his actions as well as regular army things.
I'll try to track down the web page and maybe it can help you out?

Chris,
Yes I'm doing the Academy kit.
The dry transfers are the M-10 Tank Destroyer ( AR35105 )

I'm going to hold off on the pictures until after the Sherman build, because I want to see how yours comes out without any influence from seeing mine. Anyway I want to get some better pic after I do some more to it.
The only other thing that gave me any trouble was the turret it was a little tricky getting it together and on the turret ring.
I should be in the Sherman build so feel free to ask me any questions.

I just saw in another thread that you were planning on getting an aluminun barrel. That's a good move. I used the one from the kit and it was such a pain in the a**. I spent alot of time on it and I'm still not that totally happy with it.

M1
I've looked and looked and have been unable to come up with what company the TDs were with. All I have is that they were in the 7th Army 601TD. I did find some dry transfers from Archer with those bumper numbers. I also have "U.S. Tank Destroyers in action" and it has some pictures of the 601st Tank destroyers.
For Audie I got figure out of Tamiya's US Gun and Mortor Team set and without a whole lot of work he fits nicely behind the .50 on the turret.

I hope to have a picture of my M10 post soon.

now that I think about it, maybe just a static model, but maybe on fire with audie on the gun.

601st TD battalion markings?
Posted by M1abramsRules on Thursday, December 18, 2003 4:11 PM
does anyone have any info on the 2 M10 tank destroyers that were with Audie Murphy when he beat back 6 tigers and 2 rifle companies at Hotzwihr. I know they wwere from the 601st TD battalion, but that's it.

If someone has any info on the markings, that would be awesome!
