I don't have a diagram, but most weathering takes place on the wheels, tracks and lower hull area. The fenders and parts of the upper hull also get weathered. If you live near a construction site, check out the tracked equipment to get a good idea of what gets dirty and what doesn't. If you need any pictures, let me know.

Also the side skirts usually get scratched, bended or displaced.

The engine deck gets nasty looking too, as that's where troops congregate... And those soldiers never wipe their feet before getting on...

Hi blitzer before i seal my project, I take some white or gray chalk grind it up to a powder, and mop it on the tank then hit it with air from my brush. It will stay in all the nooks and crannies just like the real thingBig Smile [:D]

I just finished my first ever AFV. its a Panzer IV just finished it today. I sprayed it with the German Green WWII tank color but I notice that when I wash it with a redbrown and black combination some of the parts became whitetish? what do u think might be the reason, too much lacquer thinner? thanks

Hi All,

I'm building my first tank in 25 years after getting back into things. Here is an article on armor weathering that was in "Military Modelling" online. I haven't tried the techniques yet. Perhaps the experienced guys could provide some info about their usefulness. Here is the article.
