Posted by Anonymous on Friday, December 26, 2003 8:53 PM
Question [?] I want to add towing cables to my Stug Iv. The cables I plane to make from laced thread. I want them to look real and flexable, so i don't plan on using Elmers on them. I need fittings for the ends. any ideas?Confused [%-)]

Use the end pieces from the origanal tow cables. Drill out the ends and insert the new material into the end pieces. Good luck.

I picked a steel one today made by Hudson & Allen. It's flexible and already has a realistic used look. Found them at this site also. There are no pics of them but if you want I can send you one of what I got.

Could be something to look into if you don't get the look you are wanting.

Chris's idea is also good, that way if you want can get a good looking tow cable already made.

hi,take 6 strings of copper wire (electric motors) one end a knot and the other end in your electril drill, put some tension on the wire and turn your drill on (low speed) untill you have the desired turning of the cable. when finished pass your cable trough the flame of a paintstripper to remove the isolation coating and make the cable as soft as butter, then put the original cable ends from your kit and insert the turned cable (super glueing) . hope it will help you further Big Smile [:D]
