Yes loads of potential, and all you have to do is change the color scheme. No real mods necessary unless you just want to add canvas, or camo nets, or gear.

Whoa Jon. I didn't hear about that one. I'll have to check their website. It's bound to be better than Tamiya's old kit. Thanks for the heads up.

I was going to do mine in a light grey but after looking at my decales and seeing the optional red numbers I have decides to do a "fictional" gloss black "SS" version with a light grey interior and the red decals. I'll also do the figs in black "SS" uniforms. The will be my "Shock Troopers" or were they called "Storm Troopers"?

I just finished mine, It took about 2 days-build to paint, and it looks great!, I don't like the interior, so, there will be a 'tarp' over it in my winter scene. I hope to get some pics up soon.! Oh yeah, pantherlehr, that Tamiya King Tiger is awesome, paint it nicely-i fear I didn't do so well.

Its a fun and easy kit, especially for new armor modelers.

Here's mine (sorry figs are not in this pic, but they are done) :)

PantherLehr, I see you're building the Pak 40, my first Tamiya kit. Oh.... the memories. I need to rebuild one someday, but I might take a peak at AFV's 88 AT. I heard good things about it. Nice job on your 251, I remember it when you first posted it.

Cool kit!
I did mine as a repainted (schwartzgrau to dunkelgelb) vehicle. I left the inside grey (all my refs state this was usual).
I,m gonna remake the seats at some point as the kit parts let the model down badly (featureless lumps of plastic)Disapprove [V].

i built one a few months ago was prety easy build but as others have pointed out the interior is realy lacking which is something i find kinda important for open top veicules anyway here's mine

i got some more pictures of it on my webside (just click the little web icon at the bottom of my post) feel free to ask if you have any problems. they where used for a long period of time so they can be painted in a whole variety of colors from grey to dark yellow or any kind of camo you can imagine prety much. btw mine was prety much entirely brush painted (only got my airbrush once i got to the clearcoat/dullcoat step)

I've got two of them in the "model cabinet". I think it builds up easily enough, of course it has very little interior detail. I did one in panzer gray and one in late war three color. I think they both look just fine. I brush painted the three color no problem. Let er rip, you might like the way it turns out.

I just finished this model and really enjoyed it. I also got it at Hobby Lobby for about the same price.

I am just getting into armor, so this was a test bed for me. I painted it Tamiya German Grey, with a whitewash camouflage meant to represent a machine from the Russian Front. I thought the whitewash went fine but I got the other washes a bit overdone. I also added an Eduard photoetch kit. I wanted to see what they added. It was well worth it. it adds a lot to the kit and was fun to work with.

My only complaint is the road wheels. They come in two pieces, and inner and outer. Make sure the axles have ALL of the seams and sprue tags off. Otherwise the two halves won't alight properly in the vertical dimension.

Other than that It was fun. Hope you enjoy it.

May the schwartzgrau be with you!

Tongue [:P]SorryTongue [:P]

I have one as well and was thinking of grey with brown/green camo over it or maybe just bands of dunkelgelb.

I like the schwartzgrau look on the earlier hanomags. With some serious drybrushing and weathering the gray won't look so boring. I like the Model Master Acryl line and they make a good schwartzgrau. I like the Humbrol enamel paint line for brushing. Can't think what their Schwartzgrau is called.

After the Sherman family group is done. I plan on building my German 251 half track. I will be doing some kit bashing. Domi posted a picture awhile back on a captured German 251 with a Calliope rocket launcher mounted the the back of it.

Cool thanks! Keep the info comin'! Is that Teastors paint in a rattle can or does it have to be airbrush? I don't have an airbrush. Do most of my painting by rattle can for large areas and brush for small.

A great paint scheme that I used on my newest 1/72 one was a base coat of Tamiya dark yellow, then I took a small brush and dry brushed in a cross hatch pattern to give it like choppy squares of yellow, It looks good but with my camera, the detail wont show up so you cant see the paint scheme. If you want to do an early version say up to early 1943 I would do Matt german grey or Testors P. Schwazagrau

I don't care much for grey German tanks and self-propelled guns but i like it on armored cars and command vehicles. At least in the pics i've seen. Maybe once I actually see it i'll change my mind.lol What type of grey should i use. The German armor I have seen on Military bases appear to be gloss grey but that is probably to protect them since they were on permanant outdoor display. Were they really matte grey?

I did the 252/1 I built in gray and think it looks kind of boring that way. THis could be a kit to practice camo on since you got a good deal on it. I am probally going to redo the paint on mine now that I have done a couple of camo jobs now. I wish I had of tried out the first one on it instead of the Leopard 2 cause I was worried that I was going to mess it up.

That paint schem would probaly drive me mad, esp the wheels. Though i did just paint some camo for the first time on some 1/35 Tamiya Marines last night for my first military dio. It wasn't as difficult as I thought.

Hey, Mark956, they had the U.S. Half track for $15 but since i had already bought an M-20 armored car at another store I had to pass on it in favor of the cheaper $10 German Half track. [I have to pinch those penny's paint ain't gettin' no cheaper!LOL]

I also got one from hobby lobby today, but I had to pay $14.00 for it. I wish I could get deals like that.

I am going to paint mine grey. i hate masking so camo is out of the question. Maybe when my armor painting skills improve I'll try a camo project. What color did you paint yours M1abramsRules?
