Putty i use autiomotive, tamiya and testors.

thanks, that is what I was looking for. I have not built a plastic model in 30+years and when I did, it was glue and paint!

I am doing a Sherman for the build and I want to take a shot at filling the seams, good airbrush paint job etc.

this is a practice build for my desire to do the Acadamy Stuart to be proud of...Big Smile [:D]

Dostacos, WELCOME!!

1) I use Model Master Plastic Cement for large areas of gluing and Tamiya Extra Thin Cement for small parts. the Tamiya cement just needs to be brushed on after the part is in place and the glue flows into the cracks, while the extra evaporates rather fast. The Model Master Cement does not evaporate so fast and is better for applications where the glue needs to be applied to the parts before they are put in place. I also use CA glue for brass parts.

2) I use squadron green putty and testors. The squadron putty really bites into the plastic for a good hold, while the testors is easier to work with. i will also use one first, then the other for further touch ups. this way, i can see how far down i am sanding since the putty is different colors. for zim applications i have used Tamiya Polyester, and squadron putty. i have gotten good results from both, but you have to move fast, and work in small areas if you use the squadron putty because it dries fast.

3) I get most of my kits, and AM parts from the net. I get tools, and supplies from the LHS. i can find exactly what im looking for on the net, and make fewer impulse buys. although, the LHS is always fun to go walk around in.

hope this helps,Big Smile [:D]

Questions:
1. what type of glue do you use? or combination of glues.
2. more than one type of putty?
3. do you get more of your kits/stuff off the net or in Hobby shops?

thanks,

Dan
