First venture into the Dark Side...
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, January 1, 2004 12:16 PM
Here a Work in Progress pic of my first armor model. It's Revell's 1/72 Tiger 1 ausf.H, seen here in its primer coat...

The tracks, with individual links and longer sections, were quite hard to put together, and the fit of some parts is very tight!

I will spray it in dark grey and maybe do a little winter diorama with this one...

Looks like a clean build so far Betty. Please keep us posted as to the progress.

You could always put it in a dio showing it knocked out by Tena's M-10. Wink [;)]Wink [;)]Approve [^]

Thanks for sharing.
Happy Modelling and God Bless Robert

I must say I am really enjoying building armor as well as the aircraft. I am looking forward to placing the tank into a diorama possibly.

Robert, you have given me an idea. Maybe Tena and I can work on something together, ofcourse if it is a battle of any type she will have to WIN.

Thanks everyone, I have had 5 days off in a row from work and I have been taking advantage! I know once I go back I will have much less time to devote.

Nice build on the Tiger Betty! Looks real good so far.

Domi, has she failed to inform you that those are now "her" kits and she'll let you build one once and a while?? Wink [;)] Big Smile [:D]

It's really nice to see the whole family getting involved in the same hobby and all of you doing such good work too! Thanks for sharing the pics! Big Smile [:D]

Frosty,

Nice tank and nice name as well!

BTW Out of curiosity how did you get involved in modeling. Your work is excellent! Tena, ofcourse, got involved at first to try and impress her new step-father, and then realized she enjoyed it. I myself started in order to share a hobby with Domi and like Tena have found it very enjoyable! I hope I dont seem to nosy!

thanx, Betty !
i've loved miniatures for about as long as i can remember...
been around museums & art galleries all my life...
started building dioramas 4 school projects in elementary school...
then got into n-scale model railroading when i was about 12...
i've only been modeling armor since last summer, but i've been having a great
time doing it, and Domi has been just about my biggest influence...
looking at his stuff is just so inspiring 2 me !
it really is a great hobby, & fun 4 the whole family ! Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

Excellent work Mrsdj! Welcome to the Dark Side! From the looks of your work, you fit in well.

As for the diorama idea, you could make it LOOK like Tena's going to win! Set your Tiger around a corner with the gun pointed in the general direction of her M-10 and make it look like her M-10 MIGHT get a shot off first! :-)

(SHHHH! Don't tell Tena!)

It is great to see that you and your daughter got into modeling so well. I only wish my wife would give it a try to share my Hobby with me. After all, she builds computers, models should be a breeze!

Keep up the great work everyone!

Have you tried getting them interested Eric? Domi asked me then went out and helped me buy a kit he thought would interest me the most.

I have to say, Chris, that this Revell kit, with those indi tracks was not the easiest armor kit to start... But Betty did a really pretty good job at it. She's definitely more patient than I am, and curse much more too.. LOL

As this Tiger enters its final stages of completion, Mrs Dj has already grabbed another 1/72 armor kit off my shelves, this time one with vinyl tracks. We'll see how she fares...
