I build exclusively 1/72 scale armor, with the occasional 1/76 scale piece now and then. I have been building them for more than 30 years so I have amassed a collection numbering over 650 finished armor models. I've built Dragon, Trumpeter, RevellAG, Italeri, ESCI, RPM, Roden, ACE, UM Models, Military Wheels, Matchbox and Airfix among others. I usually finish between 40 and 45 1/72 scale armor models each year.

If you'd like to see my collection as of two years ago, check out my Webshots page. I have a load of photos there that show my 1/72 scale armor individually, and an album showing every model grouped by country. In that album, I warn you the photos are very huge! I did that on purpose so people could distinguish which vehicle is what as well as see some measure of detail. If you want to view them, click on the photo, then click on the little magnuifying glass icon to bring it up, then click on the photo again to see it full size. You'll know it's full sixed when you have to do a lot of scrolling up and down and back and forth.

Enough jabber, here's my Webshots page:

Here are pics of my two most recent armor models finished:

Enjoy.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the input and the links! Those are some impressive builds too. I have broke down and bought a couple kits that i got deals from Ebay. I like the price so far and the size for storage is a + factor! I build a lot of 1/72 scale A/C and some 1/48. 1/48 seems to be lacking in the same variety, as far as Ebay goes, that 1/72 and 1/35 have. Thanks again.

I build 1:72 armour exclusively, though I tend towards Russian armour.

Hey

     Travis

1/72 is nice if you want a a good weekend project. But, also some (i.e. Dragon) can be just as detailed with nearly as high a parts count as their 1/35 Big Brothers. Take a look at the link below for the kit I built a little while ago.

Here's another small scale site: http://www.smallscaleafv.com/

Two of the more important 1/72 scale armor modeling sites are http://www.onthewaymodels.com/
and for 1/72 scale Sherman modeling http://www.172shermans.com/

These sites also have links to other 1/72 scale sites and have reviews on many of the current kits. I used to build about 90% of kits in 1/72 scale, but failing eyesight have shifted me towards 1/48 and 1/35.

Hey Travis

There is lots of nice stuff out there in 1/72.  I have done a few.  So far only Dragon kits so I can;t say anything about the other brands out there. There are a lot of fun  And some have excellent detail.  n the past when I've judged at AMPS show there is a lot of 1/72 entered and detailed to the max and look great.  The nice thing is even the shelf space savings.  If you decide to put it on  a base it usually won't take up more than a 1/35 scale vehicle would.  Here are the kits I've built so far.

1/72 scale armor?

Hey all I have been getting back into modeling starting with 1/48, 1/72, 1/144 scale A/C. I was looking at ebay for some armor kits and stumbled upon the world of 1/72 armor. My dad used to build HO (1/87) scale armor for his train layouts. I always built 1/35 for armor (mainly cause it was the only scale when I started out.

I am interested in knowing if anyone out there builds or has built armor in this scale before. There seems to be a lot of choices in kits and the size would probably fit my storage needs better.

Thanks for the input.
