Polish Armored Train Brave 1/35 my first bench...

Wow Van, that is going to be CRAZY!!  And loooong!  I hope you have room for this one! 

I started it from building the flat cars. Full resin, parts where twisted and bended when the model arrived. HIT GUN was my best friend for many sessions...I used it to hit up the parts and straith them out... On edges of flat cars i had to use metal supporters. L shape brass metal bars to keep the parts in right shape...

Ya...it's huge...The base will be 8.3 feet long!!

Yes I am with you on that...fortunately i have my own room the lady i live with accept my hobby :) ...only sometimes she is saying I am crazy ....when she saw the armored train..she ask me: Where you gonna put the BIG BOAT?  :)

Van ask me at the next meeting about a base for your train kit ,I think something with a little curve in it

would be cool ,and maybe able to mount on a wall.Something interesting for an interesting subject. Does the kit come with tracks?

Speaking of with...base for this model is actually in good progress....i just added some grass to it  :)

It is made of: wood base, L shape metal bars and in the middle a metal door frame. The frame is super flat and is good base for lay down the tracks...

The whole kit comes with tracks but they're out of scale..i will make my own tracks. The metal part will come from trumpeter kit and the wooden part will be made of balsa..

HOLY COW!  This is HUGE... I don't think I have seen a bigger diorama than what you are building in the forum.  This is going to be fun to watch... and you better double check with your lady to make sure that she is OK with this.  Ladies like to change mind often...

Next -2 artillery wagons. Model has a 3 main segments. 2 ends and middle part. I started cutting the ends and worked to feet to middle part. The artillery wagon has a 4 gun door. I decided to modified and "open" one door. Original photo is from one of the Polish armored trains. It show how the door opens to extend angle of fire...

Inside the door: Water cooled Machine gun

This long resin edges is hard to keep straight. They need a support like the L shape metal bars...

The Polish Army had 10 regular armoured trains in 1939, and all took part in World War II.

I did some research about the guns for this train and find out that the guns that comes with the kit are not to good ..looking. I decided to built my own guns. The 2 artillery wagons where equipped with 2 75mm and 2 100 mm howitzer each... The 2 75 mm are ready to paint...now i am working on 100 mm guns. To make the guns i used cooper tubes and some PE parts. The first photo present the 75 mm that was used on most Armored trains in Poland in 1939

This is certainly one monumental undertaking. Keep posting the progress of this one, as we don't often get to see something of this size and scope.

I find some aluminum pipes today in loco hobby shop and i use them to make the 100 mm howitzers for the artillery wagons... This very potent 100mm gun was made by Skoda... I also make a bicycle that will be laying down on one of the flat cars...

Hi, Back on track again..Will continue with the Polish Armored train... I'm almost done assembly with assault wagon...You see a lot of antenna musts with isolators...On top there will be a wire going around this isolators same as on the war photos... I also make a AA machine gun (polish copy of browning)but I think i will not use it there will be no room on flat cars...i am still not sure if they really use them like that in 1939... It's hard to find a lot of info about this train...I only read ones about bofors AA and machine guns on platforms...Anyway...on the bottom you will see a photos of a Army bike from 1939... This is of course a copy of the original bike that was used in polish army by some forces...They are made by the same factory in Radom (still making weapons) that was producing Mauser for army and most military equipment and weapons before 1939... This photo is from some Historic show. Only girls looks like the loco... collage ones :) Cheers...

Here is update on building tracks..I used balsa wood to create the rail blocks Cut first on table saw and then glued down with carpenter glue.. As a guide I used original Trumpeter plastic railroads beads... placing them upside down on the diorama and inserting the pre cut wood blocks inside...This was very helpful to keep straight line with the woodblock...
